For several reasons, as will be explained below, I will not be celebrating Christmas this year and every year hereafter until further notice. Any gifts that I receive will be promptly donated to charity or to those who would appreciate the items more than I will. However, if you feel compelled to buy something for me, I will gladly accept gifts three weeks later for my birthday.
The most prominent reason I will not be celebrating this year is I am simply not sure what I believe when it comes to religion. As such, it could be considered sacrilegious to celebrate the birthday of a man that lived long ago that goes by the name Jesus. If I did participate in Christmas without being sure that I believe that this man did indeed do what many proclaim he did, I might anger some deity somewhere. It's never a good thing to anger deities.
I do not need anything other than what I already have: a place to sleep, clothes to wear, food to eat and my family. In my opinion, any money that you spend on me for a holiday I will not be participating in is simply a waste. Take that money and donate is to charity; the results will be much more gratifying.
The Christmas holiday has become vastly too commercialized. People forget the real meaning of the season. All I need is to know my family is happy and well taken care of. Nothing else matters after that.
I apologize if I may have offended any of you, but these are my views on this subject. Thank you for your time.
