OOC: This may be a shorter post than last time's post but I will do my best~! o:<
I jumped awake to the pounding at the door. I rub at my eyes and look at my watch. 2:08 a.m. Doesn't that idiot have anything better to do than to bother me? Then again, I had bothered to watch him through my peep hole all night and fallen asleep by the door. He pounded on the door a bit more frantically and I sighed before I opened it "What-!!" I was surprised to see him and another woman run inside before he slammed the door shut and started to barracade my windows with anything he could find.
"Peter, what the ******** are you doing?!" I was about to stop him when the woman, a little older and shorter than I was, stopped me from doing so. It was his mother. I had only met her a handful of times, but I loved her to death "No, no, dear. He's doing the right thing. There are crazy people outside that are attacking other people and broke into our house earlier this morning.
"What? They broke in? Are you ok?" I looked her over worriedly and saw some blood splattered on the apron she had on.
"I'm fine, but one cut up Peter's arm pretty badly. Could you help him when he finishes boarding up the house?" she asked me and I reluctantly nodded "Look, I know you two will be safe here, but I gotta go see my mom. I have to make sure that she's ok and try to bring her back here" I told her then I held out my .45 to her as I grab my keys "If I'm not back in about..." I had to pause and think since there was chaos in the streets and I'd have to go on foot since traffic would just slow me down "three hours, I want you to board up the back door but keep a watch on it. I have some baseball bats in the basement from when I played teeball, so you guys decide which one of you gets the gun" I didn't wait to see them nod as I ran to the front door and opened it.
Peter's mom wasn't lying. I saw looting, panic, traffic as people tried leaving the city, and in all of the confusion were people whose faces had turned bloody red as if they had been screaming at someone or holding their breath. It was everything out of a nightmare horror show only real. I ducked down low even though my heart was racing. I unlocked my trunk and took out my bow and arrows. I knew I had twenty arrows in the holster but I had another canister of them that I hadn't used yet. Guess today they got their chance. I took out my cellphone and tried calling my friend who only liked being called Siren. It rang a few times before I let out the breath I was holding "Hello?"
"Hey. Are you aware of what's going outside?" I asked as I straped my arrows across my chest.
"I'm blind, not deff, Iris. Of course I ******** know. I'm here with your mom right now. Are you coming right now 'cause s**t's hitting the fan fast here. The staff are leaving the patients that were injected with CurAll because those are the ones that are turning into the monsters you're seeing. I'm not gonna lie, Iris... your mom is doing pretty bad..." she sounded concerned and when she was concerned, that was a sign that I needed to get my a** moving.
"I'm going to be there as fast as I can, but I don't know how long that'll be... Do you have a weapon?"
"I have my normal weapons. Never leave the house without them, now just get your a** here"
"Alright... tell my mom to hang in there"
"She's hanging in there" she said before she hung up. She usually was like that because she always says that "Goodbye's are forever and mean you won't see that person ever again. I may be blind, but I intend on keeping you around for awhile." since both of her parents killed themselves in different ways. Her dad had jumped off a building and impaled himself on a spiked fence while four years later, her mother shot herself in their living room for Siren to find. Siren was seven when she had to go into foster care and she had had a different name at that time. But that's a different story for a different time.
I peeked over my car and looked for the first red face and spotted him four cars down from me, breaking into a car to attack a family. I looked away and crouch ran along the sidewalk. I couldn't be a hero... I didn't have enough arrows and I'd get surrounded quickly with these... these 'things' numbers...
I tried not to think about it as I thought purely on my mother and getting to her before it was too late.
I went through Hell to get just a block away from the hospital and it was scary. Not only because more of those red faces came out of the hospital, but because the amount of gunfire I was hearing around me. It sounded like a war zone. I heard some whimpering from a dog and turned, looking at an almost black German Shepard nudging a dead cop's lifeless arm. I felt bad for the creature since he didn't understand that his master was gone from this world. He was tangled in one of the seatbelts of the car and his whimpering was attracting the attention of the red faced things coming out of the hospital. He then turned to them and started to growl, thinking that he was protecting his master "Hush!" I whispered quickly and he seemed to hear me and understood the command. He stood up and tried coming to me but he was caught in the seatbelt and couldn't get free.
This sucked. I didn't want to leave the poor dog to be eaten alive but I needed to get inside. Then he did something interesting. He growled at red faced people then looked at me and sat down, calm and submissive. Then he did it again. I then understood that he was showing me that he could smell or detect these things to show that he was useful. I smiled at that since I was going to free him anyways and ran to him quickly. Good thing there were a lot of people fleeing the hospital to distract the red faces as I used an arrow's tip to free him. from the seatbelt and held him leash. I looked at his vest "Nova... huh... kind of girlly but I guess kind of cool" I smile before looking at one of the greatest obstacles in my life: the hospital.
OOC: And here's where I'll end!! ^-^ I wanted to at least introduce Nova and Siren before I stopped writing. Sorry, angel faces, but my hands are starting to hurt. Until next time, this is, Brianna, signing off.
