Twidder's Adventure with Stocks.

Once upon a time there was a magical land that was full of all sorts of magic and wonders. This land was full of all sorts of living creatures. There were the Snowy lands to the north the forests in the east, jungles in the west, mountains in the south and in the middle there was a Great Plains area. This land was ruled by a King and Queen who had a son named Twidder. Twidder was a handsome young man. His hair was a nice shade of blue and had a shell was the same rich blue as his hair and he had lovely bobbing antennae (Yes shell, he is part snail). Now Twidder had just turned the ripe old age of eighteen and his parents decided that it was now time for him to work a bit. Just so he can learn how the regular people do things.
So with that Twidder packed a lunch and set out to look and see what he could do. Twidder figured that he could do well if he went to go talk to his commoner friend he met at a pie eating contest, Cory. Cory was a nice fellow, he also was part snail, his hair was that of a light blonde and his shell was colored purple. He was slightly older than Twidder, only by a year or but he had already moved out of his parents house and had a small apartment over a cute little bistro in the heart of the town.
Twidder had not called before he arrived to see Cory and so Cory was very shocked to see him but of course was still happy to see his good friend. They after all, didn’t visit each other enough because they lived so far away. So they climbed the stairs up to Cory’s apartment. Cory put some water on the stove to boil for tea as Twidder sat himself down in the floral armchair.
“So what brings you here Twit?” Cory asked. Twit was Cory’s nickname for Twidder since Twidder wasn’t always the most coordinated boy you ever did meet. “My parents said that I need to try and make a little money on my own so I can appreciate the good fortune that I have.” Cory and Twidder talked for awhile and decided that the best and easiest course of action was to just plainly invest in the stock market and earn money doing nothing. Twidder was plenty qualified to work but frankly, he was just a tad lazy and didn’t want to bother with that.
So after he and Cory visited for awhile and had their lunch and tea. Twidder then set off to the kingdom’s stock exchange. He went in the large glass doors and walked over to the railing to where there was a floor below filled with people, desks and monitors. Twidder was overwhelmed and slightly baffled by the magnitude of people all crammed in the room all shouting numbers at each other. He had no idea how on earth they kept track of it all.
One of the people at the door immediately recognized Twidder when he entered and got all excited and scurried up to him and asked him what brought him to the establishment. Twidder replied telling them all about his situation. As it turned out the girl’s father was a stock broker. She told him that if he would wait a bit he could talk to her father and learn a bit more about stocks. So the two of them went and sat on some chairs that had been squished against the wall and overlooked all the people on the floor below waving their papers and making quite a ruckus. Every once in awhile there would be the occasional person that would walk out either crying or extremely happy. It seemed that anything could happen there with all the cash flow.
After some time passed her father emerged muttering how he lost six hundred and seventy seven dollars on some company called Cisco Systems Inc., Twidder stood up to greet him and introduced himself. Her father already knew who he was but it is always good to be polite. He introduced himself as Harry Potter. Twidder then couldn’t help but ask if he was a wizard, Harry then just signed and said “No.” Harry’s daughter, Edward briefly told her father why the prince was there and what he was inquiring. Harry agreed to help, as it would be an honor to directly serve the royal family. The three of them decided that that they’d best go somewhere else to talk because the exchange is rather loud and it made it a bit hard to talk and explain. So Harry proposed that the three of them go to his office.
So they all shuffled into the elevator and rode it up to the twentieth floor and entered Mr. Potter’s office. He had a very large office. It was decorated in a modern style. One whole wall was a window that looked out on the city; you could even see the palace. Harry went and sat down at his desk and pointed to the chairs on the other side for Twidder and Edward to sit in. Twidder sat down but Edward decided to go and look out the window. Twidder then started off asking the basics about the stock market since he only knew what he did from Cory.
Harry told him things like how you are purchasing a part of a large company and that’s called a share. And that share’s price can go either up or down. You should hope that it goes up and so you may sell it if you wish and make the difference from what you sold it at and what you bought it at.
Mr. Potter then also suggested to Twidder some stocks he might want to look into like perhaps Google inc. which had been going up, why Harry had just made seventy dollars on it that day. Or perhaps even Apple inc. that had gotten Harry seventy six dollars. He did deeply suggest that Twidder not go and try to invest in Microsoft, because even though it’s a really big company it doesn’t always mean it will do well. He lost two hundred and eighty dollars on that one and he didn’t want Twidder to do that either.
So after a long while talking with Mr. Potter Twidder decided he’d try his hand at the investing business. He told Mr. Potter that he’d call him the next day and tell him what things he wanted to invest in and what amounts of shares he wanted in each thing. Twidder then said his thanks and good byes and went back to the palace for dinner and rest. He didn’t go directly to bed after dinner though, he stayed up researching the possible things he could invest in he finally decided in investing around twenty eight thousand dollars into six companies; Fedex, Pilgrims Pride, General Electric, BestBuy Co., Pepsico Inc., and Sony Corp.
So the next morning he called up Mr. Potter with his plans for investing and so it began. Now all Twidder had to do was to wait. And so for the next month he continued with doing his regular princely duties. Until he called up Harry once more to see what all he had made.
Harry told him about how the market had dropped drastically after he had purchased things but after it all he gained one thousand and twenty four dollars and seventy nine cents. Twidder was thrilled, in just one month he had made more than had he worked a regular job that a seventeen year old could get. He had made over seven hundred dollars alone with his shares in Best Buy. He could have made even more had he not gone and invested in General Electric, because he lost three hundred and thirty six dollars with his one hundred and five shares.
So Twidder then went to his parents and showed them how well he had done with his working and all. And they were very proud of him, because they were so happy with his market success and were willing to ignore the giant mess that they were, they let him buy the Pegasus he always wanted with his earnings. Hooray.

The End
