Yay! I'm finally back from my trip to Brookings. It was a 6 hour long drive to there and we had to leave at 4:45 in the morning Sunday. gonk And we had prom the night before, so needless to say, I was exhausted. And I had a cold. xp
On our way we stopped in Oacoma for breakfast then in Sioux Falls for lunch at the Empire mall. And I slept most of the way there.
When we got there I had to share a room with Katelin, Kailee, and Jessica. I knew Jessica, but I've never really met the other two. It didn't take long for me to find out that Katelin was a total spoiled little brat who hits on every guy in sight. *cough* anyways, enough ranting about that.
I was on the Nursery/landscape team so we didn't compete until 8:45am Monday. There were four parts to the test. A general knowledge section, Equipment/tools ID, Tree ID and a math section. For me, the tools ID was the easiest. The rest I had quite a bit of trouble on. And it was cold, rainy and windy out, and all the girls had to wear skirts. domokun
That night we had a dance. I didn't want to go, but our advisors said unless we didn't feel good, we had to go. Before the dance we had a session and when the FFA State president, Travis, was handing out awards. On one of the plauqes, the glass slid and cut into his hand so he had to be rushed off stage and went to the hospital to get stitches. We didn't get back to the hotels that night until after midnight. xp
The next morning we got up and headed over to the final session where they announced the winners of the CDEs (the other competitions) and elected new officers. Only our Natural Resources team made it to third and got on stage. Amanda, and Chelsea got to go on stage for individual awards cause they made the top ten in their events. It finally got over around 11am and we loaded up on the bus and headed out. We stopped by the hotel first, though, to change out of our official dress. We stopped in Mitchell for lunch and then got home around 5:30.
Here are my results from the competition.
Nursery Landscape CDE
I placed 11th overall out of 52, so that made me happy. Our team placed 4th out of 16 other teams. Too bad this is my last year in FFA, but it was a lot of fun.
