Sora left the party outside his home; he made his way up the stairs, he wanted to be alone in his room. He quietly pulled the door closed behind him. Locking it, he slid to the floor. Even after a night there, he just couldn't get used to being back. Something felt like it was wrong. He felt unwelcome. He felt out of place. He felt like it wasn't his home. Looking around the room again, tears began to cloud his eyes. He wiped them away, wasn't he now better than this? Hadn't he promised to be stronger?
It was happening again. He was remembering.
The sky brightened, lighting the whole room in a pink-orange glow. A board of pictures and posters hung to one side of the room, clothes littered the floor. It was like any boy's room. A toy sword lay on the bed across the room, right under the window. On the window sill, a small blue orb sparkled against the light, sending another array of shine around the room. It was his room. He turned his head to a knocking on the door, his blond hair looked almost orange in the light.
Another knock. "Sora?" "Sora are you in there? Hey! Open up," he could hear Kairi and Riku outside his door. "Ah! Hold on," he quickly wiped his face, making sure to blink until he could see clearly again. His room returned to being dim-lit and messy but it no longer held the same homely feeling of it being his own. It felt dark and lonely. He opened the door to be greeted by his two old friends. His smile returned for a moment, his fake smile. He welcomed them in and they formed a circle, sitting on his floor. They each stared at the floor, the feeling of awkwardness was heavy in the room. Everything until now had felt so much like a dream that they didn't know where to begin again. Something just felt so off. "Sora," Kairi- no, not Kairi. It was Namine` who'd said it. Or maybe that was his thinking again too. She smiled, staring between the two boys, something had changed in the room. "It feels so unreal doesn't it? Being back, seeing everyone again, finally being able to relax. Its like a dream!" She leaned forward, looking up through a dreamy expression. "Yeah. It almost feels like we've been asleep. Like we've lost so much time," Riku replied with an almost relieved sigh, glad the tension had been broken. Sora could still only think how wrong it was that they were right. How wrong it was that he had missed so much. That he couldn't remember so much. That he had lost nearly half of his year and a half away from home. How unfair it was that they couldn't understand that. "Sora, what about you? Aren't you glad to be back," Kairi pulled him out of space. He brought back that smile, "Yeah. Its great to see everyone again." That smile faltered, he couldn't help but think of everyone he would never see again. Sure, he'll be back with Riku, Kairi, and everyone, but what about Hayner and the gang? Leon and everyone? Axel... "No... no, no, no..." He couldn't help but hear himself whispering. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Kairi stand. "Well, I have to go back now. My mom wanted to leave early. So, I'm off. Bye Sora. Riku," she left quickly. The boys were left sitting there. Riku kept staring and Sora couldn't help but look away. The room was once again filled with a growing tension. Sora stood with a suddenly appearing resolve, pulling Riku up by the arm with him. Riku's eyes widened and he pulled against Sora a little, Sora looked up at him from his shorter stature. "Riku... I need to tell you..." Sora's eyes clouded again, Riku stopped struggling for a moment from shock. Sora pushed Riku against the wall, holding his hands at his sides. "Riku, please listen to me. We've been apart so long, and when we met again, all we could do was fight! We've never had any real time together since everything started. Being away from you... I realized how much... how much i care about you!" Sora let go, collapsing to the floor. He wiped away his tears as they fell, wishing Riku couldn't see him like this. He looked up to see Riku knelt down in front of him. "Sora..." Riku stared at him, pity in his eyes. Sora felt his anger rising. "No!" Sora lunged forward, catching Riku in a strong, forceful kiss. He pressed Riku against the wall, pushing his own body against him. He could feel Riku's hands move from his sides and without realizing it was suddenly on his back a few feet away. Sora put his hand up to find blood trickling from his mouth. He looked up to see Riku standing defensively against the wall, glaring at him. Riku's face held a look of disgust and Sora found him self past tears. He stood with some difficulty and backed towards the other side of the room. Riku stood in shock, his arms falling limp, not knowing what to do. Sora ripped open the closet door and shut himself in, falling down and breaking into tears. He barely heard the door close as Riku left.
