You'll catch me on the interstate, doin' donuts.
So, while I may be "feeding the internet pirahnas".. i'm going to take time to respond to all the responses I got about the halloween event, and the associated crap involved. Why? Well.. I have free time right now. That's really the only reason. smile
Now, I could do this point by point, and respond to each individual user. Or, I could do it according to the issues brought up. Or, I could just type the word "********" 300 times in a row, and it would achieve the same thing for some of these people. So, I'll go with.. the second option, which is really the same as the first, but a variation. Why not?
Q: The livejournal community I commented on does not contain complaints because people are afraid of losing their accounts. People complain on Gaia, too.
A: Yes, people complain on Gaia. constantly. At an olympic level. However, I am not the only person who thinks that the level, ferocity, and quantity of the complaints on livejournal is unrivaled on Gaia. Especially the badmouthing that goes with it.
Don't tell me to read livejournal to find out. That's how I came to this conclusion. By reading the livejournal community. I went pretty damn far back, and read most of the comments, too. I was looking specifically for complaints. It sparked my interest. The threads about questing and art auctions I left alone. Sure, you can call that a biased view. I never claimed it wasn't. It was directed at certain people. I enver named names, and I never, in fact, stated that it was a livejournal community at all. You all made that assumption and tried to crawl up my a** with it. And you state I jump to assumptions.
Q: You and your mod "cronies" never explained how the links were "cheating".
A: We didn't have to. We were told by the admins that it was considered cheating, and to inform the users that their use was frowned upon. It's not our responsibility to explain s**t to you. If you don't get why, that still doesn't entitle you to do it anyways.
Q: The policies are illogical.
A: So? Doesn't make them any less valid. If I had a website I had created, and I created a rule stating that anyone named "ted" couldn't be on the site, it doesn't matter if it's logical or not. It's my site, I can make the rules as I see fit. I don't see anything in the T.O.S. that ensures that the rules will always make sense to you.
Q: Blaming users for a complete lack of organization on all levels is incredibly childish on the whole part of the staff of Gaia.
A: I never blamed all the users for the lack of orginization. Nor did I blame anyone for that. In fact, you won't really see me talk about how Gaia is disorganized in the post. I was bitching about people being jackasses. This is an opinion. My journal is chock full of em'.
Q: You do alot of things wrong.
A: So does everyone else. It's part of being human. Apparently, it's much worse when I make mistakes. Will that stop me from making them? No. Will that stop you from thinking less of me? no. Do I care? Not really.
Q: You can't mod the users OFF GAIA.
A: I never tried to. If you read my posts in livejournal, I tried to clear up what i felt were misconceptions about the situation, and the admins. I never threatened anyone with any moderator activity. I posted because I have spent a great deal more time, in person, speaking with the admins about Gaia than most other people. I've spent time working the booth with them, in their hotel rooms, and eating dinner with them. Not to mention various other activites of questionable legality. My current status as moderator has afforded me this. Sorry if you don't like what i have to say, but that's not really my problem, nor will it change what i say.
Q: Simmer down and get off the high horse that is GAIA modship.
A: I'm not on a "high-horse" because I'm a mod. I'm ranting and complaining in a personal journal, about things I disagree with. Not as a mod, but as a person. Being a mod doesn't change my feelings about how people act or treat others. I'd say exactly the same thing if I was a user.
Note: Spoon actually admits to pushing things further off-site. It's an issue of freedom, apparently. That's fine, whatever. I wasn't upset because people were complaining. I was upset because of what they were complaining about, and the reasons they were using for justification.
"Maybe we gather there and push it further there because we don't have the same freedom here to say what deserves to be said, and do what deserves to be done. "
I question the "deserves" part, but I don't say her opinion is worthless. It's her opinion.
Q: Are you supposed to be abusing and degrading the people who play on Gaia?
A: I always have. Sure, that makes me a b*****d. I don't do it in a "mod-sense". I keep my emotions out of modding. That's why I b***h and rant and complain in a journal. I don't abuse the users, and I don't abuse my mod tools. Wether or not you beleive that, I don't have to defend it, it's fact.
Q:the only mental image I have of Gaian mods is that they all talk s**t about the users and brag about it in their journals.
A: You got this from reading one journal. One post, in one journal. Go read biliouses journal, or siskatayas, or Moonys, or Aerions. I'm angry and full of hate and poison. You picked a bad journal to start with. Also.. where the ******** did I "brag"?
Q: Good job at being a proffesional there Twist. Way to loose what little respect you should have as a mod.
A: It's a journal. Specifically, my journal. It's never been, nor will be, professional. It never had to be. So.. you can kiss my skinny white a**.
On a personal note, Koko... Coming from a person who cannot take being fired professionally, your opinion on professionalism is crap to me.
Q:A better comparison would be to compare the Gaia trick or treating to a real life game of Hide and Seek.. only the person you are finding decided to leave the building without telling you, leaving you to search endlessly for a UNFINDABLE person.
That is what happened with Trick or Treating. The event was not set up right, the same errors that plagued us LAST Halloween were still plaguing us this year. The purpose of the event to find Jack according to Slutty Eddie. BUT THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT USING THE HACK. (Which was used without issues LAST year, making it even more curious that it would be considered bad this year.)
A: So? And? You were told not to use the hack. Without it, you were unable to find Jack. The admins were aware of this, and were working to fix it. So, where did that give you right to violate the rule?
The event was extended to thursday. The event was under repair. It was not working properly, and needed to be fixed.
This did not give people the right to use the hack.
Q: But, it wasn't working!
A: As I said before. So? And? You wait just like everyone else was asked to.
Q: But, I had to get my jack items!
A: The event was extended to thursday to give you plenty of opportunity to get those items.
Q: The hack was the only way to get the items, and it didn't hurt anyone or anything.
A: You were asked not to use it. I fail to see how that's hard to comprehend.
If your father/mother has setup the tabletop game of Operation (that game where you pull things out of a person and the nose lights up when you touch the fiddly metal bits) for you, but has to go to the store to get batteries to make the game work, and asks you not to turn the game upside-down to get the bits out while he's/she's getting batteries, and then you do it anyways, do you question why he's mad at you?
No, because of the parental rule "i said so." Well, this applies on Gaia, too. If you don't agree with this, it still apllies.
Q: (insert gelmax post)
A: Shush, the adults are talking.
Q: What? what kind of resposne is that?
A: One I give when people post random nonsense in my journal.
To clairfy, we don't need to run to Dri when we want to ban somone. So, you're wrong there. But, you don't know how mods do things, so.. no blame applied.
Second, I won't ban you for leaving a smartass comment on my journal. That's power abuse, and, as already covered, I don't do that.
Q: you don't deserve a full point-by-point from me
A: Nope. I don't deserve a root canal or a full colonoscopy, either. And, as I didn't ask for any of the above.. Thanks. smile
Q: WELCOME TO THE INTERNET, DUMBASS.
A: I've been here for going on ten years. A little late, but thanks for the warm welcome.
If there's anything I didn't cover, I'm sure somone will point it out. If you don't agree with what I've said here, that's not really my problem, but feel free to yammer anyways.
