The Physical State of My Humiliation
Dancing Up Part 2
Eunhyuk could already feel his heart pump faster as he approached the 2nd floor of his imaginary elevator metaphor. He could even feel the gravity press against him and raise him up to the next step in success in his dream. He just needed to make sure not to make any mistakes during his journey through the entertainment world. However, he didn't expect the torturous things that were within the 2nd floor. He expected it to be as smooth of a concrete/tile floor as it was in the 1st.

Well, he was wrong.

There were bottomless pits, rabid animals, and death traps that can bring him back down to the 1st floor. In other words: trouble was standing before him.

So there he was, standing in front of a caged basketball court, watching a group of American breakdancers beatboxing and dancing away. Eunhyuk imagined the dancers as little kids trying to stand still on a huge sheet of ice, but always ends up slipping. However, it wasn't the bad, clumsy type of slipping. It was more of a creative, memorable slipping on black, paint-covered, basketball hooped ice and landing gracefully.

He saw that it was a dance challenge. One of those street challenges where the teenagers fight against each other and try to see who was the best on the block.

Eunhyuk knew these competitions well. He used to try out for them; won everytime. However, this was America. The United States is completely different than that of South Korea.

He took in a deep breath, and pushed opened the metal door, making it slide across the pavement and make a loud clanging noise against it. The group that was once competing against each other stopped. The beatboxer stopped. Everything just froze as soon as Eunhyuk took his first step into the basketball court. Eunhyuk gulped, immediately noticing the awkward silence that was drifting between them. He closed the gate, and stood there. Silent.

After a few moments of awkward silence, the beatboxer (maybe known as the leader) approached the nervous other, and nodded. "Who are you?" he asked, with a deep voice. Eunhyuk observed the other's apparel. He was wearing a long white shirt, sagging blue jeans (ripped), and big-soled shoes. He also had chestnut brown hair, emerald eyes, and two thin strips of pink for his lips. "My name is Eunhyuk," he finally answered, after observing the other's wear. "and I challenge you to a dance-off."

The beatboxer chuckled, then shook his head. "Do you know who you're up against?" Eunhyuk pressed his lips together into thin strips, practically mirroring the leader's and nodded. "Yes I do, and yet, I still challenge you." the other members of the gang glared at Eunhyuk. One, with innocent eyes, shook his head, signaling Eunhyuk that What you put yourself into was a big mistake... However Eunhyuk ignored it all, determined to win against these teenage boys. Suddenly, the beatboxer snapped, resulting to one of the members approaching Eunhyuk, and looking straight into his eyes.

The member that was called up was big. Eunhyuk had to slightly lift his head in order to directly look him in the face. He was around 6-foot 3, shoe size 12, and had arms that reminded Eunhyuk of the Hulk. His eyes were black, dark and lifeless. His hair was moppy and obviously greasy. His clothes were jeans, excluding his undershirt, and his shoes were torn up and in-your-face Nike. If this boy didn't have any female friends or hardly talked, Eunhyuk would totally understand why.

"This man challenges you." the beatboxer said, facing the taller other. "He was already warned about our skills." the taller teen just nodded and let out a deep, "Hmmpt." Eunhyuk guessed that was a signal, because as soon as the member nodded, the beatboxer/leader began his beatboxing, after taking a couple steps back, of course. Then, the competition started.

The other group members were surrounding them in a circle, one of the traditions Eunhyuk was familiar of, with the "Beast" and Eunhyuk standing in the middle of it. Eunhyuk knew the boy he was going against was called the "Beast", or that's what he thought it was, because he heard the boys surrounding them chant the word, "Beast! Beast! Beast!", or they could be chanting, "Weak! Weak! Weak!" towards Eunhyuk, trying to make his downfall sooner. Of course, if he had one, or was going to have one.

Eunhyuk stepped back, watching the "Beast" dance against him. Eunhyuk saw the teen move around the court, performing every single dance move that he knew. Wow, not bad... Eunhyuk thought. He saw the boy making his final move, before throwing a finger towards Eunhyuk, signaling him to start his dancing. Eunhyuk took in a deep breath before starting his dance moves that he had taught himself all his life. Dances from his favorite celebrities, dances he made himself, dances his friends gave him, any dance he could think of at the back of his mind. He also tried his best to keep with the rhythm.

He knew if he were to keep in tact with the rhythm, that will give him more points and win more hearts of the viewers. Speaking of which, he saw people gathering around the basketball court, digging their fingers through the holey gate and pressing their faces against it, as if they were watching animals perform in a glass box in the zoo. He even noticed a couple of people snapping pictures and pointing, saying, "Mommy! How much is that dancing Asian boy at the basketball court?" and the mothers discussing about how Asians are not for sale, anymore.

When he stood up and looked across, he saw a familiar face that he expected least to see. It was Kibum, holding onto the metal cage surrounding the basketball arena and waving, as well as snapping pictures and smiling to encourage his hyung.

Eunhyuk, panting, never felt prouder as the crowd's cheering filled his ears. He even saw a couple of the group members clapping themselves. However, the "Beast" wasn't clapping at all. He was standing near a corner, arms crossed and glaring at Eunhyuk, appearing disappointed that he lost to an Asian. The leader appeared, standing before him, and lend out a hand. Eunhyuk slapped it on and shooked the hand, nodding to the leader. "You know, I may have doubted you first, because of your race, but you're pretty good." he said. "It must have taken you forever to learn all of those moves." Eunhyuk shooked his head, then shrugged. "It just took me a couple of years." he answered, watching the viewers slowly leave and calling their friends about the new breakdancer, however, seeing Kibum was just standing there, watching everything. "Do you have a coach?" the leader asked. Eunhyuk shook his head again, then answered, "Nope. I taught myself to dance."

"Wow." the other said, echoed by the other crew members "wow"ing themselves. "Would you mind, say, joining our group? We could use a talented dancer like you." Eunhyuk pursed his lips to one side, and shrugged. "I don't know..." he looked ahead, and saw Kibum swaying his hands and mouthing, "Say yes! Say yes!" and nodding.

He looked to the corner where the "Beast" stood, and saw an alarmed expression on his face. Probably shocked that the leader was offering another member to join. Was the "Beast" the best? And was he scared that some worthless Asian was going to take his place?

After a moment of thinking, Eunhyuk smiled, then said, "Yes. I would love to." @
