Chapter 11

Scarlette and I chatted as we flew. We had months of catching up to do.
"So, yeah," Scarlette was saying, "We've all been recuperatin' since the storm. Takin' shifts ta find you while the others rested."
"Wait, so you've been searchin' for me all this time?"
"Aye, searched the seven sees we did. And after so many months, I almost can't believe I've really found you. I prob'ly would've flew right over that ship you were on if I hadn't heard you singing. The crew an' I--we'd almost given up hope."
"Maybe I should have been lookin' for you. Then again, I didn't know it was impossible for vamps to drown."
"It's all right, Jaquie. I've been a vampyr for longer than most of the crew, an' I still don't know all the secrets."
"Heh. 'Guess so--nh."
"What is it, Jaquie?"
"Nothin' just a twinge from my old scars."
"But you don't have those scars when you're in pheonix form."
"Yeah, that's odd. Aaahh!" I jerked in pain. What was going on?
"Jaquie? What's wrong? What is it?" Scarlette's face registered worry. I didn't know that was possible for a raven.
"I--I don't--agh?--know--What's--happening--to me?" Then I wasn't flying anymore. I was falling. I had reverted back to my human form and couldn't change back to a pheonix. I heard someone's voice, not Scarlette's, this voice was male, yell "No!" and I was floating. Something warm and wide, muscled, sleek and also feathery had caught me. I heard the voice say" Are you alright, Captain Sparrow?" then I blacked out. Why did I keep blacking out?

A black and silver, almost blue, pegasus glided on outstretche dwings. Resting on it's back and one wing was the unconscious form of Captain Jaqueline Sparrow. Another pegasus, this one dappled black and brownish red, swooped down and placed a wing beneath the black and silver one's wing, stabilizing its flight and making sure its cargo didn't slide off.
"Is she okay?" The black and red pegasus whinnied.
"She's still breathing, but she's unconscious," answered the black and silver, "What happened, Scarlette?"
"I dunno, Vash. she said her old scars hurt then she fell. It's a good thing you caught her. I don't think I would've been fast enough."
"Uh-huh. It's a good thing you found the captian near HQ. I had come out to watch for your return so I could take my shift, and I saw her fall."
"Definitely a good thing."
"There's the cave. Let's get Jaqueline inside so we can find out what's goin' on."
The two pegasi, Vash and Scarlette, dove through the air as six other assorted winged creatures flew from the mouth of an island cave to help carry their precious cargo.
