Chapter 12

I couldn't tell if I was conscious or no. Faces flickered in and out of my vision; Vash, Scarlette, Sakura-chan, Neji, Tayu, Genevive. The only times I could actually tell I was unconscious was when I dreamt. I had terrible, horrible dreams. Dreams of killing my crew, killing my brother, my crew mutinying and killing me. Mostly, though, my dreams were about watching my crew die and not being able to do anything to save them. Those were the worst. And I couldn't stop those dreams from coming.

Six figures, five female and one male, sat clustered around their captain as she lay, shivering feverishly, on the floor of the cave. One figure, a girl with shoulder-length pink hair was at work, placing a damp cloth on Jaqueline's forehead, checking her pulse, and whatever else she could do to help her ailing captain and frined. The other fiver were trying to figure out what had happened.
"How is this possible? Scarlette, youve known the captain linger than the rest of us; what happened? has anything like this ever happened to her before?" The speaker was the one male in the group; tall, tan, with silver--almost white--spiky hair and a sinewy build, it was no mystery why Jaqueline and Genevive had become rivals: This vamp was a babe.
"I don't know what happened, Vash, and no this hasn't happened before. All I know, and I've said this twice already, is that she said her scars were hurting her and then she reverted to human form."
"Well it's obvious that she fell. We all saw it," whispered one of the others: a girl with long, brown hair streaked red and blond that fell like a curtain over one eye, making her appear shy, and freckles across her nose.
"I could tell, Neji," Scarlette replied in a soothing tone, :I doubt you would have been able to helpp Vash 'n me carry Jaquie down here if ya hadn't."
"Sakura," said another figure, this one had long curly blond hair and a small scar below her hairline, "How's Captain Sparrow holdin' up?"
The pink-heired girl looked up, but kept taking care of the unconscious woman beside her as she spoke.
"I'm still not sure what caused this to happen, but Cap'n Sparrow's--"
Jaqueline's form jerked beneath Sakura's hand. The girl turned back to her patient and saw--
"Blood! Ohmigod, Jaqueline's bleedin'!" Whipping around, Sakura snapped, "Where're those bandages we salvaged from the wreck? Get them! QUICK!"
While the blond pirate went for bandages, Scarlette leaned over Sakura's shoulder as the girl tried to staunch the bleeding that had started for seemingly no reason.
"where's she bleeding from?"
"Her right arm and two places on her torso."
"Oh no. That's where her old scars are. The one's she got in our raid. Where's Genevive with those bandages?!"
"I'm right here!"
"Give me those!" Sakura snatched the bandages from Genevive's hands.
"I thought those scars were 17 years old!"
"They are Vash!"
"Then how could they have reopened?! The were fully healed!"
"No idea, but we better bandage them up quick! She almost died whe she was wounded the first time. Sakura, hurry!"
"I'm trying, I'm trying!" The girl was frantically wrapping and rewrapping Jaqueline in rolls of bandages.
"My God, she's bleeding through the bandages! She's bleeding out!"
Sudden'y, Jaqueline stopped jerking about and lay still. A trickle of blood ran from the corner of her mouth.
Scarlette gasped, "Oh no! Jaquie!"
Vash grabbed the captain's wrist, frantically checking for a pulse. Then he hung his head.
"Damn." The sixth member of the crew, young woman with short black hair muttered a curse.
Then they all sat in silence.

WHAT?! I'm DEAD?! NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but the story isn't over yet. Jaqueline's "death" has occured around the same time Jack was swallowed by the kraken. Could the two events be related? read the next post to find out! Comments Please!
