New story!
Mood: hapless

Music: Another Op'nin' Another Show

Hey, everyone! I'm finally posting the first chapter of my latest story. It's called Caribbean Islands, Pirates, and...Vampyrs?!...Yes, I wrote Vampyrs with a 'y' instead of 'ire'. It sounds cooler that way. Sorta olde English. Well, on to the story!

Chapter 1

The cool, clear, blue water felt good against my flesh. I had shed all but mu undergarments in the heat of this accursed Caribbean isle. The rest of my clothing--as well as my cutlass, two katanas, pistol, and dagger--lay atop a large, flat rock on the beach. A small fish nibbled my toe. I could feel my lips curling upward in a smirk as I thought of how well fed I had been; at least by human standards. I executed a perfect backflip underwater, flipping the fish into the air and catching it in my teeth. That simple motion broke its back. The Caribbean sun would do the rest to cook my meal. With a toss of my head the fishe once again flew through the air, but this time landed on a small rock I had been using as a solar cooker. Perfect. Sinking lower in the blue water I once more thought back. My memories of this island weren't all horrible, but my first impression of it had been.

The gray storm clouds had become nearly black. My ship was tossed over the monstrous waves; many had already hit and carried my crew overboard. I was alone, struggling to keep my ship afloat. The pounding waves though, had taken their toll. I clung to the mainmast like a barnacle to the hull; my legs had given out and I was no linger able to rush about the deck. The heavens above tormented me, pelting me with raindrops hard as stone, fierce wind and gigantic waves threatening to pull me from the mast. All the while my grip weakened. Finally, one wave--the largest, most terrifying so far--crashed into the ship, tearing it apart and throwing me from the deck. I vaguely remember my head hitting something--a piece of the ship maybe, or just the water--and then no more. I may have blacked out. When I came to I was on the beach of this godforsaken island. Beneath my head lay a piece of wood. It was the one surviving piece of my ship the Sparrow: the nameplate.

Yes, for the first few months I hated this island. The heat and the smell of dead, rotting fish was nearly overwhelming. Now, I have resigned myself to my fate, and the smell ain't so bad either.
I tore myself from my thoughts as my head was nearly submerged in the calm surf. I swam to the shore and calmly stepped out of the water. I redressed, not forgetting my bandana, tricorn hat and boots. As I strapped on my weapons i thought I heard something.
