There once was a King, an evil king. But he was not always so. He was once a great man who did a many great deeds, so great indeed that the Gods promised to reward the young king. But at this time the man possessed a selfless heart and saw nothing he wanted for; being young and ruller over his own kingdom and loved by his people, he was content in his life.
But as the years began to weigh heavily on the man and he saw before his own eyes his youth withered and his kingdom fall into war after war and the king longed for the return of better days. Immortality was the only way the king could foresee and guarantee his continued rule and enable him to return his kingdom to it's once splender. So the King not yet an evil King took the Gods up on their promise they had once long ago offered him. He wanted for immortality and for his withered youth, the Gods obliged being true to their word they would give the good king his reward.
That very day the King was married to a beautiful goddess, the youngest daughter of the Gods, who was promised to bear the man a child. An immortal child that would bear his likeness and when the child came of an age his soul would be cut from the flesh and the King's soul put in it's place. Now the goddess loved her child and would not see it given up to the evil king's vanity and fleed with her child.
Driven by a maddening lust for his youth and promised immortality the King had indeed become an evil king, his heart turning to one of villainies and he pursued the beautiful goddess and their son. Fearful the young goddess returned to heaven but left her beloved child the only protection she could. A mask that would hide his face that so bore the likeness of the father's and promised that when the day came that the son had found his OWN face would he be safe.
The evil King would not give up on his prize and so took on a half life inorder to pursue his son even well past the end of his life.
