Apparently on the news today, there was an article about something to do with the girls who were alledgedly sexually assaulted at our school.
This apparently happened back in February, but we're all hearing about it now because it was in the news.
The online version of the article doesn't explain what happened, only that the father of the older girl is stirring up trouble because he was unhappy with the way the school handeled the situation blah blah blah.
I'm not quite sure what to believe, or whether or not I want to even develop an opinion on the subject. I mean, I don't know what happened and there's really no way for me to find out from an un-biased source.
What did bother me was the attitudes that people had towards the girls. Almost everyone I heard said that the girls either 'probably deserved it because they're sluts' or 'are lying because they're sluts'
What kind of mentality is that? Sure, it's entirely possible that they ARE lying, but what if they're not? And besides, does it make it any less wrong for the guys to act the way they alledgedly did even if they are a little on the skanky side? It actually made me want to kick Thing when she said that they probably deserved it.
The girls say that they were dragged into the bathroom where the guys threatened them, while the guys said that they asked the girls if they'd give them head, the girls said yes but not on school property, the guys pressured them and they agreed. Once they were caught on the security cameras, they changed their story.
I'll update when I find out more details.
Opinions ladies?
