I got Utada's album today... whee heart I was so insanely happy, anyone would have feared my joy if they didn't know me well... actually, even those that know me well fear my happiness. eek But not as much as my rage. sweatdrop
I have favorites on this album.. some I'd heard in their entirety before ever getting the album, or, rather, before the album even officially released (which was today). The two were Devil Inside and Easy Breezy. I love Devil Inside. n_n heart It's one of my favorites off this album
Favorites include, but not limited to ( xd ):
Devil Inside, (awesome. Utterly awesome. Awe inspiring.) Exodus '04 (Very calming, very zen... the lyrics are great, too!) Tippy Toe (actually, this one sort of scares me... I'l explain why... but not in this journal. ninja ) The Workout (Yeah, strange, I know...) Kremlin Dusk (Absolute love...) And About me (What can I say? Lovely melody!)
Devil inside is an amazing dance track with initially odd sounding synth sounds, that lead into Utada's sultry vocals. A very strong drum and asian sounding beat come in later, adding a more refined taste to this song.
Exodus '04 is what some might describe as trippy. The melody is ear catching and beautiful, with Utada using her note changing talents to hit notes that are rather far apart. While she's not the best at doing this and it sometimes makes it sound ackward, she's getting better.Trust me.
Ummm.... Tippy Toe.... ... let's just say... that... it's about... marital infidelity. <.<; >.>;
The Workout! This one is something like a dance track also, but probably more R&B and rap inspired... well, in the way that her lyrics connect and are said moderately quickly. Ooh, oxymorons! (like military intelligence! or Microsoft Works! xd )
Kremlin Dusk and About me are both aquired tastes, I suppose. I love them both the same... not quite.
Kremlin Dusk has intelligent, profound lyrics, and the notes themselves are so high or low, that I can really only call them 'So Deep.' Maybe I'll post the lyrics in my next journal entry... whee
About me is a song that I can actually kind of relate to. Hence why I like it. Also, the melody is very pretty, and the notes are attractive. The lyrics are fairly simple, but genius in their simplicity. I really liked all of the songs, but Hotel Lobby and Animato kind of got on my nerves. Animato has great lyrics, but I think Utada didn't manage to come up with a melody to properly fit them... The lyrics are great for Hotel Lobby as well. I'm getting used to them... listen to them both a couple times and they get stuck in your head whether you like it or not!
That's the only bad thing I have to say about this album really. My hopes for this album had been that the music would be different from anything she'd ever done and anything anyone else had ever done.
Utada did not fail me, and I am beyond impressed with her work. As soon as I finished going through the album for the first time this afternoon, I had to clutch my head because I was reeling!
