Naraku was sitting in his palace, Kanna standing in front of him with her mirror. He was frowning as he watched. The hanyou wasn't miserable. He was laughing-- laughing! This second childhood was supposed to be a living hell for him, but no. The monk just HAD to come across people to help him out. Although, as Naraku continued to watch, the monk did seem to be having a nervous breakdown. Maybe he would crack with stress... yes, that would be good. But then what to do with the others...? He could always kill them off after the monk was gone. Yes... after the monk cracked under pressure... then the children would die. But what of the youkai? He was not in Naraku's original plans. Nor the priestess, Kaede. She was not supposed to be younger either... But younger, much of her knowledge of remedies was gone, as was the experience of old age. She remembered being older, there was no doubt in Naraku's mind of that, but she had no memory of many of her experiences. She would die with the rest of them, he finally decided.
He dismissed Kanna, who walked out of the room expressionlessly. Once outside, she climbed up into a tree and looked into the mirror again. The youkai... Sesshoumaru, they called him... The smile slightly spreading across her face was they only part of her that conveyed any emotion. The youkai would not die by Naraku's hand. She would ensure that.
But wouldn't that be going against herself? She was, after all, a part of Naraku, was she not? But nonetheless, she continued to watch the young Sesshoumaru in the mirror. A slight frown flashed across her face as she watched InuYasha poke him and laugh.
"Kanna?"
Kanna quickly erased the mirror as Kagura called her name from down below. The young girl looked down on her older 'sister' from the treebranch with a blank look.
"What did Naraku say? You don't seem happy." Kagura thought about what she had just said. Kanna, happy? Maybe that was a bit of a stretch. Kanna was never happy, but neither was she sad. She was just... nothing.
Kanna, still silent, looked back at the blank mirror, then back down at Kagura, then spoke only four words, "They all will die."
Kagura knew her sister had been watching the youkai intently through her mirror. "I can still make him dance for you," she said.
Kanna said nothing, but looked back at the mirror, which once again was showing images of Sesshoumaru.
