The strangest thing they'd ever done was to wake at dawn and drape themselves across cushions to talk of the end. There wasn't much time left, that much they had agreed on long ago. She'd offered a timespan of fifty years. He'd hesitantly agreed, but she felt that he doubted her. But truly, she didn't blame him. It seemed far too long.
Muted words led them to talk of a small sign that had appeared on the door of a local music store after the tsunami. It proudly proclaimed destruction, though no one was sure who had placed it there. "The end is nigh."
She had smiled when she first saw it because it reminded her of Broken Saints. He had shuddered and refused to enter the building.
Both were silent for a long while after the topic had run its course. He looked away from her, gazing out the window into the chill morning. There wasn't much time left.
