Façade
She walks through the park,
Holding her bag and her books,
Smiling at those she passes.
She’s happy.
No.
She’s acting.
She dresses nice
And smiles prettily,
Just to hide her pain.
It’s all a façade;
An act to fool everyone.
And everyone is fooled.
She thinks she has no talent.
Nothing worth loving.
She feels she’s got more than she deserves.
People tell her otherwise,
But she doesn’t believe.
Who are they to tell her right from wrong?
What if they just say things to make her feel better?
She’s portrayed as a dreamer,
A romantic,
A girl with infinite imagination.
And yet,
She still doesn’t believe.
She walks through the park,
Hiding behind her façade.
She’s acting.
She’s unhappy.
She’s disbelieving.
She’s me.
