Med School
I know that most of you probably are indifferent or uninterested in this. However, I just received notification that I was taken off the waitlist for Tufts University Medical School. This means I have to decide between Tufts and the school I am currently lined up to go to: SUNY Downstate.

I like Tufts a lot better (and it's higher ranked), but it is also much more expensive than SUNY. Even out of state tuition at SUNY is less than tuition at Tufts...and I can become a state resident of NY after living there for one year...thus further savings. It's not insignificant: something like 80,000-90,000 dollars over 4 years.

Anyway, I don't know how many people know enough about med school or whatever to give a meaningful response, but if you have an opinion, I am certainly open to it.

I'm not too smart when it comes to things like this... but if you like Tufts (hehe) better, go for it. I know it sounds cheesey, but follow your heart, man xD

And congratulations @w@ heart

I don't know about either, but I think it would be better to go with the one you would be happiest at. Medical school isn't a breeze from what I'm aware of and you'll need to be happy where you are to make it. Are you going to be working while in school? You should maybe try checking out the work/living/social environments of both also. See which one suits you the best. Do they have better living quarters, near a place you can get a job? I agree with Lelio though, you should be following your heart. If Tufts is where you want to be you shouldn't let money keep you from it if you can. Being cheaper doesn't mean you will be happier, nor get a better education. Being happy in your decision will make your entire experience better I think.

Oh, and congrats on getting in whee heart

I'm not in Med School yet (I'm taking Pre med) but I think your best bet is at Tufts. If price is what you're worried about do what we did at GWU (George Washington University) apply to work at the school and they'll pay for your education. heart

Woooow, congrats!!

My mom likes to drive me insane sometimes about college, but she likes to say things like "It doesn't matter how much the cost is ('mommy will help you' . . even though there's no logical way that she can pay for all of it) so long as you're getting the education you deserve".

And well . . think about it. I've went through all your old blog entries one day (and I mean even to the part where you sold knives to the part where you decided between MIT and the other place and people gave you hell about it ). You've worked too hard to go to a place thats your second choice.
