The Ramblings of a Lonely Crazy Person
Didn’t recue Garth in Fable 2 this week because I’ve been rather distracted. My mind keeps wandering and stories keep popping up so it’s difficult to do anything, much less enjoy a performance in a video game by a particular voice actor. I also haven’t worked on anything for that game festival I keep mentioning. Part of the reason for the last one is me getting distracted, another part is me being lazy, and the last part is me getting down in the dumps again lately. It’s hard to do anything when sadness wraps around me like a tight, smothering blanket. No recent world events are fueling it as far as I can tell.

Since I don’t have much to talk about in my personal life so much and I haven’t seen anything floating around the internet that I want to talk about, I might as well mention one thing that bothered me enough to make me unsubscribe from a youtube channel a few weeks ago. I guess I kept forgetting to talk about it, or just had other things on my mind that I talked about instead. Anyway, the youtube channel I’m talking about is TYT, and for some backstory, I had subbed to them for a while, thinking they were a good news source on youtube, realized they weren’t and basically stopped watching their videos while staying subscribed. The way they title their videos give away what will be said if one knows the hosts well enough, so they became a thing I’d watch maybe once in a while, and if I did watch them, I usually didn’t finish the video because of the sh*t job they did in relaying information and how horribly biased they are. Fast forward to the night of/day after this year’s president election, where I saw a video titled “SHAME On Women Who Voted For Trump | Election Day Coverage 2016”. The emphasis on the first word in the video title was theirs, not mine. Fair disclosure: I didn’t watch the video. Like I said a few sentences ago, I can predict the content of the video by the title alone and from me knowing the people involved with the video well enough. The reason the title alone made me want to unsubscribe was because of an interview the boss guy (Cenk Uygur) had with a woman who was a men’s rights activist and anti-feminist (Karen Straughan). He spent most of the video shouting at the woman, and towards the end he kept trying to get a thank you out of her for the work first wave feminists did in getting her (and other women) the right to vote. The interview video gave me a really strong impression that women having the right to vote was really important to TYT, or at least the boss of TYT. The “SHAME” video made me change that impression to “It’s great you’ve got the right to vote, now vote the way I tell you or you’re a bad person”. Or maybe TYT thinks it’s great women have the right to vote, but doesn’t think they have the right to think for themselves when it comes to choosing a president just yet. The latter would be worse because they have female hosts and guests on their show. Then again, the women on the show could just be above all the other women in America and that no thinking allowed rule only applies to women below them. How... lovely... stare Long story short, no matter which way I think about it, that video solidified them as pieces of sh*t in my mind, and I’m rather sorry I didn’t come to that conclusion sooner than I did.

I know that talking about unsubscribing from someone on youtube is kinda stupid because no one cares, especially when it’s just one person in a sea of millions, but I didn’t have much else to talk about this week. Also, speaking of voting one way or another, I’m pretty sure there was a South Park episode in which the kids at the school have to vote for a Giant Douche or a Turd Sandwich, which reflects this election and my feelings toward it almost perfectly: both options were/are horrible and the way people acted when it came to voting for or against their chosen side was horrible.

Speaking of South Park, I’ve only gotten into the show this year. I’ve known about it for a while (thanks to a movie my dad rented a long time ago), but it’s only lately that I’ve noticed the messages that were put through the show. Rather than some stupid jokes and a lot of cursing, like I thought it was, the show seems way more smart than what I used to think. I also found out some interesting tidbits here and there about the show and a movie I saw when I was younger, which makes it better and draws me in way more now. I’m still not a regular viewer of the show, but if there’s nothing else on and I see South Park, I’m happy to watch it.

And that’s it for this week’s entry. Short, but I need to get to sleep sooner tonight than I have been the past few nights, so it’s a good thing.
