So...uhhh...
This is just random rambling about the manga/anime stated above so just ignore this...
Just needed to get my thoughts out...
I don't remember when...probably sometime last year...when I first came across KnB when I was browsing through the 'Surprise Me!' thing on mangareader.net...
And of course, it takes you to the manga's page where all the info and chapters are...
So...Kuroko no Basket....I read the summary for it and the words that appealed to me the most were 'Generation of Miracles', 'Kuroko', and 'Secret'.
And I just decided to read it because I was curious about this secret the main character has.
I read it...and I was instantly hooked...but then I suddenly stopped...dunno why...probably because I was distracted or something. A year or something later, in March 2012 for the Spring Season animes, I see that on animecrazy.net, Kuroko no Basket was made into an anime!
I was surprised. Though I didn't watch it right away...dunno why...I don't remember what was going through my mind. But then a few months ago, a bit depressed that Reborn ended, I decided to just watch it on a whim. Right then and there, I remembered some of the stuff I had read. I remembered Kuroko's 'secret' of course, I remembered their reactions to it, and I remembered where I had left off, which was the Seiren-Touou match when everyone was surprised that Aomine caught Kuroko's Ignite Pass.
So I continued watching the anime, fell in love with the characters, the plot, the bgm...It was amazing. Honestly, I never thought that I would get hooked on an anime solely about sports! I've tried watching Prince of Tennis dozens of times but I never got into it...It didn't pull me in like KnB did. Just on the second episode, we got introduced to the first GoM member, Kise Ryota. After the practice match with him, we see Midorima, and then we see Aomine and I'm wondering...just wondering and being so damn curious who the other two members of the GoM were.
Now throughout an anime, whether it's finished or unfinished, I never watch the ending until I get to the final episode. When it's the final episode, then watch the entire episode.
So I finish the anime and then I start looking around into the KnB fanfictions. The first KnB Fanfiction I have read is Princess of Miracles, with a gender bended Kuroko. The authoress introduced the GoM early and there were times where names of characters that were not yet shown in the anime was brought up...like Haizaki and Hanamiya...and it was stressed in that fanfic that those two did rough plays and all that...
I think the second KnB Fanfiction i read is called Generation of Models. An AU where the GoM are top models and Kuroko is this awesome photographer who can bring out the best in his clients. And in there, two new names pop up that were not yet introduced in the anime...Himuro Tatsuya and Alex.
It was then and there that I decided to put my foot down. I said to myself 'Screw it! IDGAF' and just decided to read the manga instead of waiting for the Spring of 2013 for the second season of KnB.
But...before reading the manga, I decided to go on Wiki and read a little bit of info and stuff...even though I tried so hard not to read about the remaining GoMs because I wanted to be surprised and all...I ended up reading them anyways.
Murasakibara Atsushi and Akashi Seijuro
Yup, I read em both but I barely remembered anything about Mura besides the fact that he's freakishly tall and loves sweets and the like...I barely remembered because I was a bit shocked and a little overwhelmed when I read Akashi's character summary. I thought to myself, 'a guy like this actually exists?' What really got to me in the summary was the fact that the GoM respected and feared Akashi and that they were always compelled to do whatever he asked.
After reading Princess of Miracles, I was kinda scared of him...because he threatened Aomine with a pair of scissors in his face. And...a warning the authoress mentioned in the beginning is that Akashi will be OOC in her story...that he will be niceAkashi. And I thought 'If he's like this when he's nice, what the hell is he like in canon?!'
So I read the manga...to eager and pumped up with wanting to know what was going to happen in the Winter Cup.
And then Chapter 113, Kuroko is summoned by Akashi and I was excited to finally see him. All of the GoM were there with Kuroko being chaperoned by Furi and then whoosh. Akashi shows up...except he was being effing shadowed. Like...He was standing on higher ground so from where Furi and Kuro were standing, the sunlight would be blocking them from properly seeing him. His upper body was being shadowed but we could see his eyes. Akashi tells Furi to leave since he only wanted to see his former teammates but the poor boy was intimidated and scared shirtless of him...and the Kagami shows up and tells Akashi to...chill and let Furi stay. Akashi...walks up to Kagami, asking Midorima for his scissors that he brought with him since it was his lucky item for the day, and borrows it...cutting his bangs...and then attempts to stab Kagami with them because he nor Furi didn't do as he asked.
You know what he said?
"In this world, winning is everything. Winners are validated and losers are denied. Until now, I've never lost at anything, and I won't in the future. Since I always win, I'm always right. If you oppose me... I'll kill you, no matter who you are."
...and then we see his face for the first time and damn was I intimidated!
There was this one part in his summary that I didn't really understand...
The ability to see what the opponent will do next, known as the "Emperor's Eyes." This, combined with his naturally developed perfection as a point guard, allows him to stop all moves that approaches him and nullifies them, be it offence or defence. Furthermore, he is shown using this in conjunction with an ankle break while attacking so the opponent won't "look down on him" as he's naturally short.
I didn't understand that last sentence so I didn't think much about it. But then when I got to the Rakuzan-Shuutoku match, I understood what it meant...He goes up in front of his opponent, ankle breaks, and makes em fall on their a** with Akashi looking down on em. And just the surprise and shock on their faces...
In other words, out of all the GoMs, including Kuroko, Akashi is the one who appeals to me the most. Midorima is awesome with his shoots, Kise the Copycat and Aomine the basketball Prodigy and Genius made a huge impression on me during their Kaijou-Touou match, Mura kinda scares me when he's serious, and Kuroko's just plain awesome with his misdirection, but none of them have caught my eye as much as Akashi did.
He's just...intense and his, and I quote from Wiki, 'winner-take-all philosophy' just draws me into him.
The person with the most notable change within the GoM is Aomine since he came from loving basketball with all his heart to hating it so much that he thinks of it as a chore or something...and all because he became too strong for his own good.
I want to see the changes Akashi went through since their Teikou days, if he did go through any at all.
So, anyways, back to the point.
I went on YouTube to look for some KnB stuff, like watching amvs and actually watching the anime's song endings. I wasn't very fond of the first ending, but the second ending, Catal Rhythm, I had come to love. So I decided to watch the last episode's, episode 25's ending.
...
And I was surprised. I honestly think that I had forgotten what I had seen in the last episode...maybe because I didn't watch it all the way...?
But in 25's ending, in the chorus of the song, instead of showing the GoMs individually, it showed scenes of a basketball game. I recognized Kirisaki Daichi and Yosen...which means that those scenes were from the Winter Cup.
I seriously don't remember seeing it when I watched the last episode. I either didn't watch it or I didn't remember since I was overwhelmed with what I had scene in the manga...who knows...
Fans of KnB, have been saying there's going to to be a second season coming out in April of 2013 and others are wondering if it's true or not.
Personally, with seeing Akashi and Murasakibara along with scenes from the Winter Cup, it's as if they're now...obligated to make a second season since they did that.
So...Yeah...
Right now in the manga, we're at the climax of the Seiren-Kaijou match, the 4th quarter, of the Winter Cup.
Seiren is ahead by 15 points and now Kuroko and Kise are taking the stage. If Seiren wins, they'll be going to the finals, battling against Rakuzan. In other words, Akashi.
I really can't wait!!
Now I want to contribute to the KnB fandom but I have no idea what to write about...
