FFXIV Story
Again with my obsession. Didn't want to look it up again so gonna copy and paste it here for my leisure.

FFXIV 1.0

Beginning in one of Eorzea's three main states, the player character awakes to the Echo, a power granting them the ability to see the past.[4] The Adventurers are initially involved in both conflicts within the nations provoked by the Garlean pretense, led by the Garlean Legatus Gaius Van Baelsar, and the Beastmen's attempts to summon their Primals and their consequent hoarding of crystal supplies. Eventually, a greater threat is brought to the attention of the nations by the Sharlayan scholar Louisoix Leveilleur: another Garlean Legatus named Nael Van Darnus is using arcane magic and technology to summon Dalamud, the planet's second moon, down on Eorzea to purge the Beastmen and Primals. With the aid of Garlean defector Cid nan Garlond, the Adventurers discover that Nael has set up a beacon for summoning Dalamud in the new fortress of Castrum Novum. While each nation makes individual attempts to storm the fortress, they are repelled. Faced with this, their leaders form a pact and unite the nations under the banner of the Eorzean Alliance.

Now united, the nations, aided by Adventurers, successfully storm Castrum Novum and destroy the beacon. Nael, insanely committed to her plan, makes herself into a second beacon. Though she is defeated by the Adventurers, Dalamud has descended too far for it to return into orbit, so Louisoix proposes a final desperate plan: to summon the Twelve, Eorzea's deities, and return Dalamud into orbit. The Adventurers pray to altars dedicated to the Twelve across the land, then rally with the armies of the Eorzean Alliance to fight Nael's legion on the Carteneau Flats, the predicted impact site of Dalamud. In the midst of the battle, Dalamud disintegrates and reveals itself to have been a prison for the Elder Primal Bahamut. Enraged after its imprisonment, Bahamut begins laying waste to Eorzea. After the attempt to summon the Twelve fails, Louisoix uses the last of his power to send the Adventurers into a time rift, separating them from the flow of time so they can return when Eorzea has recovered.[11] Louisoix then proceeds to sacrifice himself to destroy Bahamut in a final cataclysmic battle, leaving behind a barren, scarred landscape.

FFXIV 2.0

A Realm Reborn

The game opens with a vision of the player's character wielding a blade of light to strike down a masked man in black robes. The vision is a dream the player has while on a carriage ride to their chosen starting city—Gridania, Ul'dah, or Limsa Lominsa. Players returning from the original release appear in a forest in a pillar of light—Louisoix's final spell to save their lives from the devastation at Carteneau. Through undertaking various odd jobs, the player character ingratiates him or herself with the local Adventurer's Guild and earns comparisons with the fabled Warriors of Light, brave adventurers who participated in the Battle of Carteneau whose identities have been mysteriously erased from the memories of all who knew them. A pattern emerges amid these quests involving a series of attacks by masked men, as well as a member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn who claims to know the origin of the player's visions. The adventurer meets the leader of this secret society, Minfilia, who reveals that the visions are a manifestation of the Echo and mark the player as a chosen representative of Hydaelyn, the Mothercrystal.

As a newly inducted member of the Scions, the player follows Thancred to Thanalan to investigate abductions and the theft of crystals along trade routes in the area. The culprits are members of the Amalj'aa beast tribe who capture the adventurer to be sacrificed to their primal god, Ifrit. The attempt fails as the Echo protects the player from Ifrit's brainwashing. The adventurer counters by defeating Ifrit and is hailed as a hero, with emissaries from all three Grand Companies jockeying for the privilege of recruiting said hero. While attending rallies at each of the three cities honoring the memory of those fallen at Carteneau, the player meets the twins Alphinaud and Alisaie who question the purpose of such nationalist displays. The adventurer's next mission is to forge relations with the Sylphs of the Black Shroud, a peaceful beast tribe whose radical sect once summoned Ramuh to defend the forest from Garlean incursion. While searching for the Sylph elder, the player encounters Lahabrea for the first time—an immortal Ascian bent on destroying the Mothercrystal. The Scions, Thancred in particular, resolve to investigate this new foe.

The Kobold tribe in La Noscea, angered at the Lominsans' encroachment upon their ancestral territories, gathers crystals to summon their primal, Titan. In response, the player is dispatched to interview former members of the Company of Heroes, a band of mercenaries who previously defeated Titan and Leviathan in the Sixth Astral Era, for advice on how to combat the primal. After a series of lessons disguised as menial tasks, the company's leader reveals how to access Titan's domain: by reversing the current through the beastmen's own teleportation crystals. Though the adventurer banishes Titan to the aether, the victory is short-lived. While away, Garlean Tribunus Livia sas Junius had broken into the Scions' headquarters at the Waking Sands with the aid of the Ascians, abducting Minfilia and slaughtering the rest. While performing funerary rites for fallen comrades, the headstrong Alphinaud returns with news of a new primal Garuda being summoned by the Ixal tribe. He hatches a plan to confront Garuda in her own domain, but requires the aid of the amnesiac airship engineer Cid Garlond, currently toiling as a cemetery hand.

With Alphinaud and Cid, the player travels to snowy Coerthas in search of Cid's lost airship, the Enterprise. By uncovering a heretic plot, the once-untrusting Ishgardians agree to allow the adventurer to raid the Stone Vigil, a fortress overrun by dragons where the Enterprise was last seen. Lahabrea reappears to taunt the player about their impending doom while facing Garuda. Cid manages to repair the Enterprise and pilot the airship away from the Vigil and with the aid of the adventurer's Echo, regains his memories as a Garlean engineer, Eorzean defector, and genius inventor. The Enterprise cuts through Garuda's vortex and the adventurer slays the Ixali primal but she is immediately resummoned. Kobold and Amalj'aa prisoners of war also summon their respective primals and the three prepare to face off. However, Garlean Legatus Gaius van Baelsar intercedes with his own Ultima Weapon which proceeds to devour all three, gaining in power each time. Destroying the Ultima Weapon becomes the player's highest priority.

Returning to the Waking Sands, the heroes discover a few Scions who escaped the attack, as well as the location of their abducted comrades. They mount a rescue mission to the Garlean Castrum Centri, stealing uniforms and a magitek reaper for disguise. Minfilia and the others are retrieved but they also learn that Lahabrea had possessed Thancred during the course of his investigation into the Ascian threat. Minfilia and Alphinaud barge into a meeting between the three Grand Company leaders who had been considering surrender in the face of Ultima Weapon's power and convince them to fight against Garlean oppression. Using the combined forces of all three nations as well as other allied groups, the Eorzean Alliance executes Operation Archon—a massive counteroffensive that aims to assault every Garlean Castrum simultaneously. The player leads a strike team into the Praetorium where the Ultima Weapon is housed. Using Hydaelyn's blessing of light, the adventurer strips Ultima Weapon of its primal aether. The weapon destroys the Praetorium using Ultima magic but the player's team is protected by Hydaelyn's light and dismantles it. Lahabrea attacks personally but the player fulfills the vision at the beginning of his or her adventure by striking Thancred free from Lahabrea's possession using a blade of light. With the threat of Garlean invasion lifted, the Grand Company leaders declare the beginning of the Seventh Astral Era. The player's character is hailed as a hero of the same caliber as the Warriors of Light.

Seventh Astral Era

Facing increasing scrutiny and pressure to align with one of the three allied city-states, the Scions decide to relocate their headquarters to Revenant's Toll, a hub for adventurers in the neutral territory of Mor Dhona. Minfilia reunites with her adoptive mother F'lhaminn, which resolves her remaining doubts about moving away from the Waking Sands in Thanalan. No sooner are they settled when word arrives that a renegade moogle faction has summoned their primal Good King Moggle Mog XII, enabled by the Ascians. After besting the giant moogle, the Warrior of Light encounters a white-robed Ascian named Elidibus who tests the player's might before disappearing. Shortly thereafter, refugees arrive from Doma, a city subjugated by the Garlean Empire, and seek asylum in Ul'dah, which refuses their request. Alphinaud recommends they work as tradesmen and manual labor in the construction of Revenant's Toll. In gratitude, the Doman leader, an Au Ra named Yugiri, accompanies the party to reconnoiter the Sahagin spawning grounds where their primal Leviathan is summoned. The adventurer slays the revived Leviathan using a boatload of corrupted crystals, courtesy of Lominsan warship The Whorleater.

Alphinaud inquires about the cause of riots among Ala Mhigan refugees in Ul'dah and uncovers the agents of Teledji Adeledji, an influential member of Ul'dah's ruling Syndicate. Raubahn speculates that Adeledji is jockeying for control of Allagan artifacts discovered at the Carteneau ruins, including remnants of the Omega Weapon. In the Black Shroud, the Sylphs summon Ramuh who judges the Warrior of Light as a worthy savior of the realm, departing amicably. Meanwhile, Alphinaud establishes the Crystal Braves to act as a neutral police force for Eorzea. Their first task is to investigate the "Ivy", a Garlean spy who has infiltrated the Immortal Flames' leadership. On another front, Ser Aymeric of the Temple Knights of Ishgard reaches out to the Scions and Braves in an unprecedented move to ask for their aid in monitoring the Keeper of the Lake—the wreckage of a Garlean airship intertwined with the corpse of Midgardsormr, the dragon king who repelled the first Garlean invasion twenty years previous. In exchange, the Temple Knights agree to safeguard supply shipments to Revenant's Toll which had been harried by heretics following Lady Iceheart, an Ishgardian deserter who plans to summon Saint Shiva in aid of the dragons. Iceheart evades capture within the tunnels of Snowcloak, a labyrinth of icy passages that block access to the Coerthas Western Highlands.

Varis zos Galvus is crowned Garlean emperor and begins consolidating power, lending new urgency to the search for Ivy. The Braves discover that Ivy is Raubahn's trusted advisor Eline Roaille, who is captured at the gates of a Garlean Castrum. A new Scion, Moenbryda, arrives from Sharlayan and provides critical advice for locating Iceheart. Using her body as a vessel, Iceheart summons Shiva into herself and challenges the Warrior of Light. Though the adventurer's band defeats Shiva, Iceheart escapes, bidding the meddler to consult with Midgardsormr. Based on the player's encounters with Lahabrea and Shiva, Moenbryda hypothesizes that Ascians may be permanently destroyed by trapping their souls within white auracite and cleaving them with a blast of pure aether, much like Hydaelyn's blade of light. Lucia of the Temple Knights requests that the Warrior of Light investigate suspicious activity at the Keeper of the Lake. At its apex, the adventurer discovers that Midgardsormr lives on, slowly regenerating from his apparent death. He divulges that Nidhogg, one of his seven children, has rallied the Dravanian horde to renew their attack on Ishgard. Sensing the hero's connection to Hydaelyn, Midgardsormr invokes an ancient pact with the Mothercrystal and seals away her blessing as a test of the player's worth. The Ascian Nabriales takes advantage of the opportunity to infiltrate the Scions' headquarters in pursuit of Louisoix's staff. Moenbryda sacrifices herself to create the blade of light necessary to completely destroy the Ascian.

As the Scions mourn their fallen comrade, Aymeric parleys for aid in Ishgard's defense against Nidhogg's forces. Minfilia and Alphinaud reluctantly pledge the support of the Scions and Crystal Braves, though the other Grand Company leaders decline to provide assistance, citing domestic troubles and remembering Ishgard's reticence during the three Garlean invasions. The adventurer leads a band of volunteers at the Steps of Faith, Ishgard's main bridge. They manage to repel the attack and a victory celebration is held at Ul'dah with the hopes of pressuring Ishgard to rejoin the Alliance. At the banquet, Sultana Nanamo Ul Namo privately discloses to the Warrior of Light that she plans to dissolve the monarchy in order to erode the power of the Syndicate which is the source of much of Ul'dah's corruption. However, the sultana's wine is poisoned and Teledji Adeledji bursts in to accuse the player of regicide just as Nanamo takes her last breath. Adeledji brings the adventurer forward to the banquet with his charges and denounces Raubahn for his negligence. Enraged, Raubahn murders Adeledji but Lolorito, another scheming Syndicate member, takes this as proof of Raubahn's guilt and has him arrested. The Crystal Braves are revealed to be in the pay of Lolorito and attempt to apprehend the fleeing Scions who are taken out one by one. Only a humbled Alphinaud and the Warrior of Light manage to escape with the help of Raubahn's son Pipin Tarupin. Cid takes them to Coerthas where the grateful Ishgardians grant them asylum from the Syndicate's pursuers.

FFXIV 3.0

Heavensward

Heavensward opens with the Warrior of Light finally entering Ishgard proper. With Alphinaud and Tataru, they are ushered into the manor of Count Fortemps, who impresses upon them his progressive views about the role of outsiders in turning the tide of the Dragonsong War. The hero begins by assisting Edmont's sons on missions in neighboring territories. Through these missions, the adventurer briefly chances upon Lady Iceheart, who appears remorseful for the heavy toll on Ishgardian lives in the latest attack, as well as the great flying whale Bismarck, the primal of the birdlike Vanu Vanu. Upon returning to Ishgard, the Warrior of Light finds his fellow Scions accused of heresy by the Heavens' Ward, the Archbishop's honor guard. The player represents Tataru alongside Alphinaud in a trial by combat to prove their innocence. Victorious, they are invited to meet with the Archbishop who apologizes for his subordinates' lapse in judgment. In private, Thordan VII reveals that the Ascians offered him the power to continue the Dragonsong War, which he accepted, but that he also plans to betray them once he learns their secrets.

News soon breaks of Raubahn's impending execution. The Scions scramble to respond, gathering intel through Admiral Merlwyb and the Doman spy network. The Warrior of Light, Yugiri, and Alphinaud mount a daring rescue, culminating with intervention by an unexpected source. Dewlala, a high-ranking member of Ul'dah's ruling Syndicate, informs the Scions that Teledji Adeledji's conspiracy had been discovered and thwarted by Lord Lolorito long before the day of the Sultana's supposed assassination. Having switched the poison with a sleeping drug, Lolorito allowed the Warrior of Light to scapegoat responsibility for the coup attempt while eliminating Adeledji and the Sultana's plans for democracy simultaneously. Lolorito later personally delivers the antidote to Raubahn and pledges to support the Sultana against the rapidly remobilizing Garlean army.

As the Dravanians prepare to resume their siege of Ishgard, Alphinaud suggests that they use Lady Iceheart to broker peace with Nidhogg through negotiation. Estinien offers his lance to aid this endeavor, promising to slay the great wyrm if words come to blows. Iceheart reveals that she too possesses the Echo and used it to glimpse at the truth behind the war. Born Ysayle, she took the name Iceheart after communing with the soul of Shiva, the mortal woman whose love for the great wyrm Hraesvelgr allowed man and dragon to coexist peacefully for two hundred years. Yet the Elezen grew envious of the dragons' power and conspired to steal Nidhogg's eye, the source of his strength. This, she claims, is the origin of the Dragonsong War. Aiming to avoid further bloodshed, Ysayle agrees to take the party to parley with Hraesvelgr for his aid in ending the war.

On their way through the Dravanian Forelands, they vanquish Ravana, the primal of the insectoid Gnath beast tribe. Emboldened by the Ascians, the Gnath had been encroaching on dragon territory to fuel their primal. Hraesvelgr's daughter Vidofnir allows them up the Sohm Al peak as thanks. Upon reaching the summit of the Churning Mists, they encounter a tribe of moogles who claim the patronage of Hraesvelgr if they prove their worth. After completing dozens of menial tasks, the moogles agree to call for the great wyrm. At their meeting, Ysayle invokes the name of Hraesvelgr's beloved Shiva, but he rebukes her, calling the primal a mockery of Shiva's memory.

Here, he recounts the true origins of the war, which date back to time immemorial when the dragon king Midgardsormr first arrived on Hydaelyn with seven eggs that would become his First Brood. Of his children, Hraesvelgr, Ratatoskr, and Nidhogg settled in Eorzea. The first Elezen to settle in Eorzea encountered these great wyrms and Nidhogg was initially mistrustful, having seen the fate of his brood brother Bahamut at the hands of the Allagan Empire in eras past. However, the love between Shiva and Hraesvelgr brokered a peace between their people. To overcome the brevity of her mortal life, Shiva allowed Hraesvelgr to devour her soul so they could be together for eternity. With Ascian urging, King Thordan betrayed the dragons' trust, conspiring with his knights to slay Ratatoskr and devour her eyes to gain unimaginable power. This becomes Nidhogg's true motive for his assault on Ishgard—his undying wish for revenge upon Thordan's descendants. Hraesvelgr ultimately refuses to abet peace, judging Nidhogg's cause just.

Estinien concludes that words have failed and the only deed that will end the war is Nidhogg's death. Using the power of Nidhogg's eye, Estinien weakens him enough to prize out the remaining eye, vanquishing the great wyrm. With the war over, the Warrior of Light and company return to Ishgard to share their revelation about Ishgard's founding. Aymeric departs to confront the Archbishop, who imprisons him for heresy. The Scions mount a daring rescue involving aid from the lowborn Ishgardian citizens and Temple Knights who remain loyal to Aymeric. With Aymeric free, Thordan VII reveals his role in perpetuating the deception, as well as his plan to travel to Azys Lla to gain ultimate power. Azys Lla is an ancient Allagan floating colony that serves as the prison for the Warring Triad, a trio of Third Astral Era primals with limitless strength. By absorbing the Warring Triad, Thordan aims to deify himself into a primal using the prayers of Ishgard's people, gaining the power to wage everlasting war.

In pursuit, the party vanquishes the rampaging Bismarck, who held the key to Azys Lla, but Thordan's Ascian accomplice Igeyorhm snatches it away. The Garleans reveal that they also aim to reach Azys Lla to plunder Allagan primal-controlling technology. However, both they and the adventurer's party are barred from entry by a powerful aetheric barrier. With the aid of Y'shtola who had been recently recovered from the Lifestream, she bids the Warrior of Light to entreat her Sharlayan mentor Matoya for a solution. Making their way through the Dravanian Hinterlands, they discover a colony of goblins and treasure hunters who have begun work to rebuild the ruins of Sharlayan into their own city called Idyllshire. Through labor, the adventurer earns citizenship to this free city and completes Matoya's tasks, building an aetherial ram with which to pierce the Allagan shield.

With the ram outfitted onto their airship, they manage to gain access to Azys Lla but the Garlean flagship Gration takes advantage of the breach to open fire. Hraesvelgr approaches with Ysayle in tow, both having had a change of heart since the death of Nidhogg. Ysayle summons Shiva and provides enough cover to land on the floating continent but she is killed by the Garleans' overwhelming firepower in the process. Traveling deep within the Aetherochemical Research Facility, the Warrior of Light confronts Igeyorhm and Lahabrea, the architects of Thordan's scheme. The adventurer cleaves Igeyorhm's essence with Hydaelyn's reawakened blessing of light, destroying her, and Thordan himself arrives to vanquish Lahabrea. He absorbs the power of Nidhogg's eye, transforming into King Thordan, a primal powered by a thousand years of Ishgardian prayer. Making quick work of Lahabrea, he turns to sup on the Warring Triad but the Warrior of Light manages to strike him and his deified knights down.

As the conflict finally draws to a close, Estinien offers to seal away Nidhogg's eyes so their power could no longer be used for evil. However, Nidhogg's rage proves too great and his eyes overwhelm Estinien's psyche, possessing him and transfiguring his body into that of the great wyrm. With that, Nidhogg's shade escapes to rally his horde anew. Returning to Ishgard, the Warrior of Light receives a hero's welcome as Aymeric pledges to reconcile Ishgard's true past with the peace promised by the present. As Thordan's illegitimate son, he assumes temporary rule of Ishgard. Under this uneasy accord, Ishgard rejoins the Eorzean Alliance.

Tales of the Dragonsong War

In the next chapter As Goes Light, So Goes Darkness, the Warrior of Light and Alphinaud resume their search to find the other missing members of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Upon hearing of someone who matches the description of Thancred, the Scions come across another band of adventurers who identify themselves as the Warriors of Darkness. During a brief confrontation, Thancred arrives to save the others. Meanwhile, riots form throughout Ishgard in response to Aymeric's decision to bring peace between the Ishgardians and Dravanians. The riots are quelled when a child is saved by one of the Dravanians, Vidofnir.

During The Gears of Change, the Scions work towards locating their missing leader Minfilia. The Warrior of Light manages to find Minfilia, who has now become the Word of the Mother to aid in Hydaelyn's ailing moment. Meanwhile, Aymeric works towards a conference to announce his intentions to end the Dragonsong War not with violence, but peace. Vidofnir arrives, representing the Dravanians, and accepts the Ishgardians' proposal for peace. This is short lived, however, as Nidhogg disrupts the conference, using the Azure Dragoon named Estinien as his new vessel. Before flying off, he warns of returning to end the Dragonsong War with one final attack on Ishgard.

In Revenge of the Horde, the Warrior of Light, Aymeric and Alphinaud race against time to find aid against Nidhogg, asking his brood-brother Hraesvelgr for assistance. After going through trials to prove their worth, the dragon joins the Warrior of Light in the final battle. After meeting his defeat by the hands of the Warrior of Light, Estinien is freed from Nidhogg's grasp, finally bringing an end to the Dragonsong War. Aymeric, moving forward from Ishgard's former rule of archbishops, reforms the city into a republic ruled by both the lowborn and highborn citizens, each represented by the House of Commons and House of Lords respectively. In the last scene, Count Edmont de Fortemps finishes the final page of his memoirs, aptly titled "Heavensward". (As his memoirs were a retelling of the game's main storyline for the Dragonsong War)

Post-Dragonsong War

In the next chapter of the story Soul Surrender, the Warrior of Light and Aymeric meet to reflect on everything that has happened in Ishgard, only to be interrupted by news of Alisaie, Alphinaud's twin sister, arriving injured at House Fortemps. Thancred informs that she was attacked by the Warriors of Darkness, having overheard their plot regarding the primals of Eorzea. After stopping the Ixal beast tribe from summoning Garuda, the Warrior of Light and Alphinaud encounter the Warriors of Darkness. Their intent of summoning and slaying the primals is part of a plan to bring Hydaelyn to the point of destruction to restore their own home world. During their journey to stop the primal summonings, the Scions are reunited with Yda and Papalymo, who inform they were part of an Ala Mhigan resistance against the Garlean Empire. After meeting with a man known as the Griffin, Alphinaud accuses him of aiding in the primal summonings, which he denies. The Scions arrive to a failed summoning of Ifrit, to be met with a confrontation with the Warriors of Darkness once more. During the battle, Urianger reveals himself, siding with his Scion allies and invokes Hydaelyn's will to speak to Minfilia. He reveals that he learned of the world lost to the Warrior of Darkness, working secretly with the Ascians to find a way to restore their world without sacrificing Eorzea. Minfilia, sympathetic to his cause, agrees to depart from Hydaelyn with the Warriors of Darkness with the intent of giving back their lost world. With the primal threat quelled, the reunified Scions of the Seventh Dawn move forward, their goal to always be ready to defend Eorzea.

In The Far Edge of Fate, the Scions learn of the Griffin's plan to lead the Ala Mhigan resistance into battle with the Garleans at Baelsar's Wall, the base built on the border of the Black Shroud and Ala Mhigo. Disguised as members of the Grand Companies of Eorzea, the resistance believe they have made headway, now having forced the Eorzean Alliance into their war. However, under the Griffin's command, they are killed by the Garlean magitek soldiers. After the Warrior of Light engages in battle with the Griffin, he is revealed to be Ilberd. He explains that, while the Ala Mhigans desire to retake their home, none are willing to fight for it. To everyone's surprise, Ilberd brandishes the twin eyes of Nidhogg, which were given to him by Elidibus shortly after the defeat of the Warriors of Darkness. Using the aether from the Eyes as well as the bodies of the resistance, Ilberd plans to summon a primal more deadly than Bahamut to achieve his goals. Suddenly, he throws himself off the edge of the wall, killing himself in the process. With his ritual complete, the primal begins to take shape, the Scions helpless to stop it. Papalymo, using the broken staff of Tupsimati, plans to seal the primal in the same fashion Louisoix used on Bahamut. Yda, knowing that the spell would cost Papalymo his life, refuses to let him go on alone. Papalymo looks at Thancred, who understands what must be done and carries Yda away. The spell is cast and the primal is sealed in a cocoon of light, bearing a similar appearance to Dalamund. Later, during a meeting with the leaders of the Eorzean Alliance, Nero tol Scaeva intervenes, stating he knows of a way to destroy the primal. He explains of his discovery of the ancient Allagan weapon Omega and, with Cid's assistance, can awaken it to prevent a second Calamity. Cid, given Nero's past, is reluctant to assist, but agrees. As the Scions make ready to depart, Yugiri's mentor Gosetsu arrives to escort her back to Doma. Yugiri declines, as she cannot leave until the matter with the primal is resolved. Upon learning they share a common enemy with the Garlean Empire, Gosetsu agrees to help and the party departs for the Cartenaeu Flats. Upon arrival, they are met with resistance with the Garleans, leading into a battle which the Warrior of Light emerges victorious. Inside the control room, Cid and Nero prepare Omega to awaken, with Yda making the decision to activate it. At Baelsar's Wall, the cocoon bursts open and the primal, a dragon-like being named Shinryu, emerges. Omega arrives, and the two engage in combat. After a clash of attacks, both Shinryu and Omega disappear. Back in the control room, Cid notices Omega has stopped transmitting a signal, but orders it back into stasis, in case it is ever found again. The Warrior of Light looks to Yda, whose Archon tattoos have now vanished. Yda explains that, now with the cocoon gone, any life energy left of Papalymo has disappeared too. Later, Yda removes her mask, revealing that she in fact is not the real Yda, but her sister Lyse. Years ago, during a conflict in Ala Mhigo, the real Yda died saving a little girl. Papalymo gave Lyse her mask as a keepsake, but she instead decided to carry on in her sister's footsteps, taking on Yda's name. Y'shtola informs that all the Scions knew, but at Papalymo's request, played along. With new resolve to continue the fight for Ala Mhigo, Lyse decides to continue on, now under her true name. As the Warrior of Light and the others prepare for the coming fight ahead, thus concludes the story of Heavensward.
