Okay, well...here's the first chapter of Eternally Dreaming, which is a story about Aerean's past....Okay basically, a story about Aerean herself in her own world.
I've always thought about writing about her past and life but I've always been too lazy and I didn't know how to start it....Until Creative Writing came along. I decided to write about her past for my Short Story and now, I have the first Chapter of Eternally Dreaming! Yay! Hopefully, I will have enough motivation to make the second chapter! All right, peoples! Enjoy!
The door to the house opened quietly as a girl around the age of thirteen stepped out into the night. She closed the door gently and looked up at the star covered sky. She slowly breathed in the fresh air of the rain and exhaled the air through her mouth. She loved the air after a rainy day. It was fresh and it reminded her of a new beginning. She started to walk until she suddenly stopped and looked back at her home. Her eyes widened and her mouth slightly opened as she saw a small figure behind the blinds of the middle window. She turned back around and started running. She assumed the figure was her grandma since she’s the shortest person in the family. The girl kept on running, never looking back, hoping her grandma hadn’t noticed her. Her grandma would tell mom, and then mom would call the police…and everything the girl did would go to waste. It took all her courage to finally make up her mind about leaving home. She needed to hide from the cops. But most importantly, she needed a place to stay. She could call her friends and ask if she could stay over for a few nights but she couldn’t risk their parents telling the cops about her being a runaway. She stopped as she remembered one particular person: Najika. Najika was practically the only one who is up-to-date about the girl’s family drama. She even said it herself that she would allow the girl in her home with open arms. The girl continued to think about Najika, debating whether she’s the right choice or not. Najika’s parents could care less about their own daughter.
The girl shook her head. She continued to walk until she reached a desert area between the houses. There was a visible path that led to the main square of town. She stepped onto the path and continued walking, feeling her heart beat quickly from the running she did. It was quiet in the night; the only sounds were the crickets, the sound of cars in the distance, and her footsteps that walked steadily on the dirt path. She wrapped her hands on her arms, glad that she was wearing a sweater. She stopped suddenly as she looked up, blinking twice and then rubbing her eyes once to make sure if what she’s seeing is read or not. A grand, Victorian door that is the color of wood stood in front of her way. She walked forward then looked around the door. There’s nothing behind it. It’s just a regular door that wasn’t drilled into a doorway. She raised a brow. Curious as she was, she wanted to open it to see what was inside. She hesitated a bit as she reached her hands out and grasped the doorknob, feeling the smooth surface.
She stood there for a moment, her eyes widening as she felt chilly, cold wind blow on her face through the crack in the door. She began to wonder…the air around her was cool and refreshing while the wind that blew on her face was a lot colder than the air around her. After making up her mind, she turned the doorknob and slowly pulled the door open. It didn’t make a sound as it opened and the girl stepped around the door and peered inside. “What…?” She stood there in front of the open door, her hand still clutching the door knob.
Her eyes slightly widened as her dark brown eyes stared into the darkness that the door revealed. Before she could think clearly about the blackness in front of her, she felt the same chilly and cold wind blow on her that she felt a short while ago. No…I’m not going back. I’m running away. She thought to herself. She looked back at the blackness in front of her and took a step forward. I’m going to take any chance to leave this place and this is my chance. She let go of the doorknob and ran into the blackness, leaving behind her friends and family.

The girl gasped and her eyes snapped open. She panted heavily as she looked at her surroundings. It was really cold and it looked like she was in an alleyway. She rubbed the back of her head and blinked a few times until her memory came back to her.
She had run away from home and then she came across a door and ran inside it. She remembered being conscious and surrounded by darkness and now the next thing she knows, she’s here, sitting on the ground in an alleyway. She sighed as she stretched out her legs and slowly stood up, stretching her arms in the air to remove the stiffness in her arms. She took a step out of the alley and looked around in wonder. It was a town covered in snow. Even though she didn’t know where she is, she sure as hell knows that she’s no longer in the state of Arizona. She rubbed her hands on her neck and shivered. Her hands were freezing cold. She slipped her hands inside the pockets of her sweater and started walking. She didn’t know where she was going…she just wanted to walk aimlessly. The girl kept on walking and walking until she stopped on a small bridge that went over a small river that is now frozen. She looked at the frozen river, seeing some people lie on the slope of the hill making snow angels and a couple of people ice skating on the frozen water. The girl then shivered, feeling cold again since she stopped walking. She needed to keep her body moving or else she might freeze to death since she had light clothing on. She also needed to find a place to stay for the night. She looked up at the dark sky, knowing that the clouds were covering the stars. She blinked once as a small gust of wind blew and she soon saw little white dots falling from the sky. She shivered once more and continued walking, looking around to try to find a place to stay.
She didn’t care where she was…she was just glad that she finally found the courage to run away from a place that she couldn’t take living in anymore. Every single day was filled with yelling and arguments. Her mom lectured her about things she already knew about. The girl knows what she’s doing. She’s conscious of it. She’s different from everybody else. But what’s more stupid than her mom is her brother. He gets ticked at the littlest things and always tries to pick a fight with her. Even though he’s older than her, he’s an immature little brat who always thinks that he’s superior to the family. He’s underestimating her and soon, the next time they meet…if they meet again, he’s going to regret that. That’s one of the things she decided when she left: That stupid person is going to regret underestimating her.
Her thoughts got interrupted as she heard a voice ahead of her. “Sho-Chan! Hurry up. Let’s go home.” A woman called out. “But I want to play on the slide!” A little boy said, begging his mother to let him play. The mother shook her head. “No. If you play outside in this weather, you’ll get sick.” She said. “Now let’s go home. Papa’s waiting. When we get home, I’ll fix you some nice warm bowl of miso soup.” The boy smiled. “Okay!”
The girl watched the mother and the little boy walk off, hand in hand. She then walked up to the spot where the mother and the little boy stood and looked to her left to see a small playground. There were two swings, a rabbit and a cat ride that was attached to a spring which made it rock back and forth, an elephant slide, and a regular slide that’s slightly taller than the elephant one. She stared at the elephant slide for two minutes, seeing a gap under it where kids can hide when they play hide-n-seek. It was probably big enough for her to fit in there, seeing as how small she is. She looked up at the sky once more. Well, if I stay out here and rest on the side of the streets, I’ll freeze to death. She thought to herself. Making up her mind, she walked into the small playground and fell on her knees in front of the elephant slide, glad that there was snow to cushion her knees. She crawled into the space and put her back against the wall of the elephant. She wrapped her arms around herself, put her knees close to her chest, and laid her head against her knees. She closed her eyes and continued to breathe, staying awake.
Twenty minutes had passed and the air had gotten colder with every passing minute. Keeping her head down and on her knees, the girl unwrapped her arms from her body and stared at her red-colored hands. They were slightly shaking and she sighed as she realized why. She had skipped dinner because she ‘wasn’t hungry’. Her head then snapped up. Her eyes widened as she stared at a figure who bent its legs so that it could see who was sitting, its arms dangled as its elbow rested on its knee. It was kneeling in a certain position as if it needed to go to the bathroom and do something. She blinked and realized that it was a person but…there was something odd about the person. He seemed to have hair the color of the snow covering the ground and he has beautiful bright blue eyes. He isn’t smiling, but his eyes gleamed with curiosity as he looked at her. His stare tore from her face and took in her appearance. What he merely saw on her was a black sweater that really wasn’t made for winter, dark blue pants, and white DC shoes. His eyes returned to her face and he smiled a kind and gentle smile. “Would you like to come home with me?” He asked.
The girl continued to stare at him, this time her expression asking him if he’s an idiot. Of course she wouldn’t go home with him! God knows what the heck he’ll do to her. As if just barely realizing how his question sounded, he laughed. “Don’t worry. I’m living with my little sister so you won’t be alone with me.” He assured her. “She’s twenty-one.” He lifted up his left hand and held it out to her.
Should she go with him? Or should she not? She didn’t want to ponder that for too long. Normally, a person would turn him down immediately, kick him in the face, and walk off but she…The girl didn’t move from her spot. She now finds herself desperate to find a place to stay…a place where she can cool her head and think clearly. Slightly hesitating, she reached out her shaking right hand and took a hold of his hand. Warmth seeped into her skin as their skin touched and she flew herself into his arms. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head against his chest. The man took off his trench coat and placed it on her shoulders. He scooped her up in his arms as he stood up and started walking. So…warm… Was the last thought she thought before falling into a peaceful deep sleep.
