This is technicaly a subsection of the Heavy Weapons Model (HWM), since the Energy Siphon Prototype (ESP) is based on the same model. However, I feel this has untapped potential and deserves it's own log, should I decide to research it again in the future.
The ESP performs as it sounds; it siphons energy and uses the elaborate arm weapon to fire it back at targets. This was an idea I had been throwing around for some time and I was prepared for some basic problems:
- Energy overflow: The robot can siphon oncoming energy through the aray or energy "wings" on the back. They position themselves where they are needed to siphon the energy, store it in the backpack, and release it through the arm cannon. Overflow occurs when the energy siphoned reaches it's max compacity. It is of course expelled from the cannon, however, many tests have shown the relative ease with which one can cause overflow before the robot can expel the energy. This results in a spectacular explosion.
- Types of Energy: It goes without saying that "energy" is a broad term. In general, I speak of the weapon based energy usually associated with electromagnetic energy. The "wings" can also absorb energy from lightining, I might add. So the term is connected with electrical energy, mostly. I say "mostly" because I have found the "wings" (based on a limited gravitational field which holds the "energy" I have created) have the ability to house different kinds of energy. I began with electromagnetic, but it grew from there. At one point I noticed it absorbing energy from light (which led to the solar powered generators used in all the robots) but the lightining strike (accidental) was what showed me the "wings" were performing way off the charts regarding the types of energy they could attract. I have neglected to mention, of course, that the lightining simply destorys the charge pack outright. This says worlds about the rest of the project.
By now I assume you can see why this has not gone past the prototype phase. It irritates me to no end that I have stumbled upon such amazing power but have not found a feasible way to harness it. Perhaps a real doctorate or some sort of scientific training would have helped me. Regardless, I have made it this far on my own, and I plan to continue by trial and error as I have been.
