General Blurb: Belladonna and Aconite are the last remaining members of the Darklore family. The mansion started off as the house of a medieval lord and the land surrounding the house were tilled by the serfs that lived in the village. As the village increased in size Lord Darklore built a church for his serfs, the same church now lies in ruins at the edge of the shadowy domain. Life went well for Lord Darklore, his family and his serfs. Well it went well until The Black Death struck the area. Over half the village died and Lord Darklore lost his two youngest children, Mathias who was only three years old and Elizabeth who was just a few months old. He was distraught and hid himself away from the world in his study. His wife then took to managing their lands, that did not go down very well with the locals at all. His wife, Helen, was accused of killing Lord Darklore and of witchcraft. One night the serfs gathered and decided to set the manor house alight, hoping to kill the 'witch' and her 'demonic offspring'. Only two people survived the blaze, Belladonna and Aconite Darklore, Lord Darklore's twin daughters. Their presence had been requested at court at the time. Upon returning home they found the charred remains of their home and familly. Enraged by what had been done the pair rounded up the ring leaders and had them executed to make an example of them and deter anymore potential rebellion. The two women then set about using their fortune to rebuild their home. Aconite took to managing the estates she was the more business headed of the two and Belladonna retreated to her studies, she had been taught to read her bible and applied this skills to read other texts that she could get her hands on, which was very difficult indeed. Somehow along the way she read something she shouldn't have and summoned and entity into their home. She and her sister made a pact with this entity. It would protect them and their serfs and bring prosperity to their lands in exchange for their souls. The two agreed to this, and were turned into vampires.
The twins did very well keeping their secret hidden over the following centuries, and only turning those they held dear to them and trusted, adding them to the ranks of the Darklore clan. But they were found out, someone saw that they cast no shadows nor reflections in mirrors. Keeping to his side of the bargain this entity they had made their deal with plucked their home from the real world and tucked it within the folds of time in its own little realm safe from the mundane masses. The place became a safe haven for the vampire kind and word quickly spread through the community and thus began Carpe Noctum's life as a sanctuary and refuge for the immortals.
