So here's a little word game. And here are the instructions:
1. Take first five novels from your bookshelf.
2. Book 1—first sentence
3. Book 2—last sentence on page 50
4. Book 3—second sentence on page 100
5. Book 4—next to the last sentence on page 150
6. Book 5—final sentence of the book
7. Make the five sentences into a paragraph.
8. Feel free to “cheat” to make it a better paragraph.
9. Name your sources
10.Post to your blog.
"I hate moving," T.J. McAllister said conversationally, watching the Mustang's taillights disappear down the road into darkness. All that she knew, and was to put into practice to save lives and ease pain, she learned from reading, observation, and her own actual experience in dealing with the sick. "Thing haven't been going well?" he asked cautiously. "What is a pirate doing with a collection of fine evening clothes anyway?" she asked suspiciously, unable to resist the temptation of his playfulness. Miss Honey was still holding the tiny girl in her arms and neither of them said a word as they stood there watching the big black car tearing round the corner at the end of the road and disappearing forever into the distance.
OK, if you didn't know that was a combination of several unrelated sentences, would you be able to tell? I think I'd just assume it was a bad writer, unless I recognized the last sentence. By the way, the sentence where 'he' asks if things haven't been going well was originally written in first person, but since we're allowed to cheat, ha!
In order, here are the books I used:
Nowhere High by Jesse Maguire.
The Lady with the Lamp by Lee Wyndham (Possibly? The cover's missing and the first few pages are ripped up. Thank you cat.)
Myth Conceptions by Robert Asprin
The Pirate Prince by Caelen Foley
Matilda by Roald Dahl.
