Inventory Arranger
New inventory arranger went out, and while there were a fair number of people who really enjoyed the upgrade, there were unfortunately a number of misconceptions and bugs.
The major misconception was that you couldn't select multiple items -- you can select multiple items, but you just need to do it the normal way on (most) platforms, which is select and then shift-select on the other side of the region.
The first version also went out with a bug that caused the arranger to get out of sync with the actual inventory -- so you'd organize and organize, but in the end, it didn't seem like your inventory was organized at all, because the items you thought you were organizing were actually different than the ones the back-end thought you were organizing.
At any rate, the current version (v3.5) should fix all the bugs except one. There's still a case on the backend where when you move to an insertion point between selected items, it does not do the right thing; specifically:
given A -- 1 -- 2 -- B
select A and B
move to between 1 and 2
should end up with 1 -- A -- B -- 2
but end up with 1 -- 2 -- A -- B
So, for now: if you move single items, or only move multiple items selected by shift-select, you should be fine.
(Extra credit points: If you think there's another bug in the inventory arranger, we'd love to have a simplified test case; the easiest way to do this is to open your inventory in one window, the arranger in another, and when you do a move do a refresh in the inventory window to make sure that the database agrees with the user interface. Okay, only 1 in 1,000 users will go to this trouble, but we love those of you that do!)
Promageddon
Promageddon went out yesterday, to much fanfare, and of course the big news yesterday was that free Gaia Cash was being given out. It might seem the height of folly to give out Gaia Cash, but accounting regulations are interesting, and the fact that we're taking the cash back if you haven't spent it makes it much more palatable to the accouting types in their caves. While admittedly not totally altruistic (as we hope that some people will decide that having Gaia Cash is so nice that they'd like more), it is nonetheless nice to be able to give a gift like this to the community.
And remember, this is just the pre-event; the events team has tons more cool stuff planned for the upcoming week. Have fun. biggrin
EDIT: So a question came up regarding mixing of the free Gaia Cash and real Gaia Cash. Basically, the free cash is always the first spent when you spend any sort of cash... so if you spend more than 40GC, you won't have any taken away. Also, given the way that we're doing it, it should be impossible for anyone to lose any GC that they've purchased with money. Specifically, when we expire the cash, we do something like this:
- when was the person granted 40GC?
- sum up every purchase since the grant
- was it less than 40? then expire 40-(sum of purchases)
... and we'll be running checks and double-checks to make sure that we only take away free GC.

Looks like a good list of fixes, and thank you for the Arranger improvements. It's much faster, and it can be used on every machine that I use.
People should also know that you can select multiple items by holding down ctrl+click. That will select just the items click instead of all of the items between them as well, which is what you get with shift+clicking. Of course that may be what's causing the shuffle issue, and each time I've selected multiple items in the new Arranger and moved them this way, it's moved my equipped items to the location I was trying to move the other stuff.
EDIT: My Captcha was "new locks," which reminds me: any idea when we'll get those new security options? I'd love to have that re-verify feature in case somebody tries to access my account from a far-flung IP. How will that verification work, with a secret question of some kind or just an e-mail to the address associated with our account?
I also wouldn't mind an option to soulbind my own belongings. I know for certain that I'm never going to sell many of my items. Is there any way we could place soulbindings on our own stuff that expire in 3-6 months or so, or even longer? That way if my account is compromised they can't trade away my most valuable belongings. It seems like it might make it easier on the hacking team as well.
