Midnight afterlife
Chapter #2
I heard as the bell had rung two strikes I quickly ran inside. Hoping as much as hope could bring me almost tempted to bring my gun out in the chance of a ‘misunderstanding’. I stood there looking at the plentiful heads popping out from behind the desks.
“we have thought over your suggestion” said the head from the middle who seemed to have more authority then anyone else. I was practically jumping up and down inside waiting for this moment. “we have accepted it. You will do well in…” that was all I needed to here and all I did as I quickly cut him off with thank you’s. The men all stood up for me to see they where all different people who where some how connected arm to arm. As they, him , it bowed in unison I was honored ready to burst out those doors screaming I did it.
As they finally excused me my excitement had simmered down quite a bit. I ran over to Angie.
“ I did it I did it!!!!” the look on her face turned to a mix of expressions as I told her that first was happiness, second was envy, third was excitement. She suddenly hugged me but I was used to it by now as she always hugged just about every one. This part I wasn’t expecting when all of a sudden she let go I felt a tug on my shirt. It was her skin sticking to my shirt it snapped back. I knew what she was thinking when she kinda shrugged. But I didn’t mind for to long after I remember just about the biggest thing to happen in my life.
As I ran off to pack my stuff with Angie walking the other direction I opened the door to my house. I ran up to my room and grabbed the essential’s a few food items, a bottle of purified water, my pocket knife, and of course my portable cd player. I looked at my cd player remembering how hard it was to hide while my father scavenged it. Every body wanted one. I quickly stopped reminiscing and grabbed a cd off the big shelf downstairs. My mom appeared behind me and looked at my bag
“I guess you got it huh.” She said starting to cry “don’t leave!!!” she started screaming at the top of her lungs. I was surprised by this point. She didn’t want me to leave.
“its only gonna be a few days” I said in a failed attempt to comfort her.
“its not gonna be a few days if you die. What if the world isn’t as safe as you hear in all those storys!!!” she was bursting out crying and screaming almost like a three year old. She out of the below stopped crying her eyes widened and she looked at me with a big smile. “you don’t even like the out door’s remember you thought it was plain, boring at most.” I was even more surprised after I heard her change of tactic.
“im leaving mom!!!” I yelled “councils orders. Ill be fine.” She sat there stunned almost as if my words were a tazer. She gave me an evil glare and I left. I walked to the giant make shift wall with the door big enough for three people side by side perfectly. I looked at it knowing it was the last time I would stand and think about what might be out side. I hit the button on the left and the door’s slowly opened. I was ready… ready to meet what ive waited for.
