#15- Whitey-chan

The boy’s eyes widened, in surprise.
“You don’t know, Oneechan?” he asked me with a shocked voice.
I shook my head, “How would I know? I just met you.”
The boy blinked and turned his head slowly in all directions as if he was thinking hard about the question. He looked down and fingered the snow, doodling strange shapes in it. He glanced at his wings and kept thinking. I waited for a whole minute before he looked up and spoke again.
“Uhh… I don’t know!” he chirped in a singsong voice, “I can’t remember what Obachan (grandma) told me the other day.”
Obachan? This boy had a Grandma? This thought added another question to my head but I had too many other questions to ask and decided to ask it later.
“Another question,” I continued, “Who are you?”
“My name is White Lights,” he said excitedly with a huge grin on his face, “but Oneechan can call me Whitey-chan like everyone else does!”
Strange name… I thought to myself, defiantly not human or from Japan.
“O-okay Whitey-chan,” I said, stammering a bit, “How did I get... here?”
Whitey-chan stood up from the snow, not saying anything. He flapped his wings slightly to remove the snow sticking on it. He looked back at me and started walking towards me. As soon as he got in front of me, I noticed he was only as tall as my chest.
He reached his arm out to me and stuck out his first finger. He lightly poked me on the chin.
“Like that!” he yipped, playfully, taking his hand back, “I can teleport you with my hands.”
He then looked at his palms, studying them.
“I don’t remember how though. I can just do it.”
All of a sudden, he looked up at me, about to speak but he was stopped. Our glazes met. I stared into his pale white eyes. It seemed he was absorbed into my gaze as well. I had a weird feeling come to me. There was a strange connection feeling between us, like Whitey-chan was my long lost baby brother or some kind of relative. I felt related to him more than anything else, almost like my relation with Ichiro. His eyes showed a sign of relief and joy that I was able to comprehend. It was like his emotions transported to mine that second and I could feel the exact same relief and joy he did. The joy was so jubilant that it made my whole body warm again. I didn’t feel the bitter cold of the snow anymore.
I blinked out of his stare.
The feeling was all at once dissolved into the coldness of snow.
