White Lights (The Story)

#9- Chasing The Light

The city was so silent, no cars zooming by on the streets anymore, no dogs barking from neighbour's lawns. It was an eerie silence. Although it wasn't so dark because of all the lights, I was nervous. The small glow from the street light was nothing compared to the lustrous moon.
I ran outside onto the street to take a better look at the falling object. I stood on the middle of the deserted street and stared directly at it. I wondered if anyone but me else saw it. It wasn't too remarkable since it looked just like a small plane. I guessed no one noticed it or even if they had, didn't think much of it. I had a strange feeling within me thought. It was like I had to see it. It was like the falling object was drawing me near it, wanting me to find it. My heart thumped inside my chest. I needed to see it.
I squinted hard to see the object better but it was still too far. It was time to get closer.
I started walking with a quick pace towards where the object seemed to be falling to. I kept looking at it, seeing if it changed any. Suddenly, my eyes widened when I realized that it was falling right onto the baseball field of my High School. I clenched my teeth and changed my fast pace into a steady run. Warm wind hit my face as I ran, blowing back my hair. I was still keeping an eye on the falling object, making sure it was still there. I didn't know how long I ran but I realized I had started to panting violently. I was already halfway to the school. I paused for a minute, leaning down, putting my hands on me knees. Sweat rolled down my forehead. I looked back up to the sky. It was still there.
I took a deep breath, stood up, and began running again. The object had already falling so much. It was high enough for me to keep an eye on. But I noticed it was falling rather slowly, floating down to earth, maybe. That was strange.
Soon I was getting closer and closer to my school's baseball field. The object was almost above me. I ran past the school building to the side of the school where the field was located.
The field was covered in gravel which slipped into my shoes as I ran on it. I winced at the discomfort, but kept running at full speed. Soon I had reached the area right below where the object was going to fall. The discomfort in my shoes were nothing compared to what I was feeling right now.
It was still about 30 meters away from the ground. I had to look straight up to see it now. My jaws dropped as I became aware of what I saw. The object was quite small. It was like a ball of feathers, only the feathers where much bigger than a regular bird's. It was shining a bright yellow color which made it seem white. And it was floating. Floating slowly down like a pebble sinking in water. I couldn't stop staring at it. It seemed to be moving too. I was right when I thought it was alive before. This thing was alive. I didn't feel a single bit of fear come to me though. Not yet.
It has soon floated just 5 meters above my head. I backed away very slowly.
Suddenly I halted and let out a loud gasp. The ball of feathers was unfolding. The feathers were all connected on a huge wing. It was a wing. The two wings on the creature unfolded; expanding so the wings were loose and grew at either sides of the thing they were attached to.
A huge ray of light burst out from it. I covered my eyes with my arm. The light was so bright, my eyes hurt just to look at it. I took my arm down and tried to look past the light to the creature with the two wings. The light was dimming and I squinted to make out what was attached to the wings.
My eyes widened and my breathing got cut short. I felt my hands shaking. I couldn't believe my eyes. This just couldn't be real.
