Development Update: Curse These Databases Update 10:48pm: Turning stuff back on. We'll make an announcement when everything's up. Update 9:49pm: Strangely, pacing does not make computers go faster. Next half hour, I think. Update 8:41pm: Consistency checks are all good. We're getting ready to turn everything back on in the next hour or so. Thanks for bearing along with us. Update 8:24pm: Backup is restored, and we're running consistency checks to make sure everything is okay. Looks pretty good. Update 4:50pm: Still working on this. We're working on restoring backups and are now making step-by-step plans for bringing the site back on. More information when I'm able to give you something more definite, but just wanted to let you know that getting the site back online is our highest priority at the moment. Original: We had a database server start to go, so we're having to swap in a spare and replicate data over. The economy is disabled for now, but your inventories and everything are fine -- we have multiple backups for everything, it just takes a while to copy the data over. Announcement coming soonest.

	Ah that would explain a lot (like my comment on the last post). At least it's backed up and going back up. Databases suck. What can ya say? Besides #@!$?

	thanks for the update they should put a link to your journal so people are more likely to have an idea of what is going on just wondering how often is the database backed up i believe most of us understand it can take a while to copy massive amounts of data lets hope something like does not happen and have to start all over (just wondering will we get gold for the comments and other stuff we have done while the economy is down)

	Such a long time, but hope our fish will be ok, maybe reset to today? Maybe an extra day of life? If not, no big deal - will just be glad to have Gaia back

	I think you must be pacing in the wrong direction. Try pacing out an ellipse on the plane described by the East/West and ana/kata axes. (I assume of course that Gaia devs have sufficient awesomeness to access 4th-dimensional axes.) Have fun!

	Thanks for everything heart I really do appreciate that you take time out of your life to keep us happy. Also, I've got a question. Does this have anything to do with the Aquarium settings acting strangely? My Aquarium won't let me set up the music, temperature, or lighting, so I figured it might be related to the server switch somehow.
