"Hello? Earth to Susie Flue! You there?" said Anna, right in my ear. "Oww, I'm not deaf you know!" I screamed rubbing my ears. Anna was shocked, and then looked away. "Hmm, I miss Jake so much! Don't you think we're a perfect couple?" gushed Anna, all lovey dovey. "We just saw him yesterday and you already miss him??" I groaned, stretching my arms out. “Of course! What do you think? We're boyfriend and girlfriend! What? Are you jealous or something?" questioned Anna, with a smirk. I gawked at her. Did she know what I was thinking? "I'm just kidding of course! If anybody was jealous of that I'm with Jake, they'll be dead to me," laughed Anna, with her mouth full. Relief washed over me. She didn't see the scene with me Jake at all. "Hey, I gotta go to my locker to get something ok? I'll be right back," I said, gathering my stuff. "Wait, I'll go with you," replied Anna, getting up from her seat. I sighed and said, "All right, hurry up and let's go," When we were walking down the hallway, I saw Nick. I waved hi to him, but his response was nothing. He passed by us without noticing that we were even there. Anna saw my worried face and said, "Don't worry, I'll check up on him to see what's wrong," I smiled at her. Anna may be a snotty, spoiled, and bratty popular girl on the outside, but she can be a good friend on the inside, sometimes. When we splited, I went to my locker. And of course, Jake was there. I didn't know how to confront him. I mean, I wasn't even sure that what happened last night even happened! I waited for him to leave his locker, but he wouldn't budge! I looked at my watch. Only about five more minutes until my next class. Why wouldn't he move already for pete's sake! I couldn't take it any longer! I gotta get my books for my next class before I get a tardy! I ran up to him to see what was taking him so long. I gasped. There were bruises all over his arms. Jake saw me looking at him and he smiled that stupid goofy smile of his.
“Ehh, it’s just bruises from my annoying sister that’s all,” he said, hiding his arms. I wasn’t fooled. “Are you sure? Or did you get them from my history book?” I sneered, pushing him away. “Look, I didn’t do anything to you. At all. And you’re lucky I don’t sue you for hitting me repeatedly with your book,” replied Jake, pushing me back. I scoffed and said, “Whatever. It was for self-defense,” I got my books and left. When I couldn’t find Anna at her locker, I had to find Nick’s locker to ask him what was wrong. When I got there, Anna was talking to him, waving her hands around like a crazed maniac. I was about to walk up to them, when Nick held Anna close to him. I stopped. What the heck is he doing? Nick swiftly leaned toward Anna, and then... he kissed her.
