OH MY FRENCH TOASTING GOD.
Ok, this is a long story but here goes nothing. For the past lip sync contest held at my high school a friend of mine and I decided to do Soul Man by the Blues Brothers. We both dressed up and I really got into depth with my outfit; harmonica, name on the knuckles, everything.
Now the entire time before it I had found this clip of the Blues Brothers doing Soul Man live at some place I didn't know. The entire time I had been practicing Elwood's moves from it and I had gotten the hang of his moves (which surprisingly were easy for me to learn because I'm a fast dancer). Well, I found the clip again. Same exact peformance and everything...IT WAS FROM SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. I DID ELWOOD J. BLUES' MOVES FROM SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.
I thought they were his usual dance steps from every time he did it. I never knew it was from Saturday Night Live.
I am currently having a spazz attack because....jebus, the night of the lip sync...I became Elwood. I did his moves down to the very T...and, I am just in amazed shock now because I had no idea that it was all from a show in which they appeared and some people remember. Plus....they were his moves from that show and....I just can't believe it.
And the funny thing is, the host of the lip sync contest watched our act and said I got the Elwood part down perfectly. The host knows everything about the Blues Brothers and he never told me it was from Saturday Night Live. And even on the intro (he gave us an intro before we went on saying that Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi were the Blues Brothers and performed Soul Man on Saturday Night Live) I had no idea what he meant by that. I mean, I have heard of Saturday Night Live before but I didn't get it and now I'm just....jebus, now I understand why the audience went wild for us. It was cause we had it all down perfect...and they remembered it or knew of the Blues Brothers or something..especially with my moves and my friend's moves. And now in my highschool, I am known as Elwood.
For once, I truly think high school ain't that bad as they say. I'm not popular but I have a popular nickname. Elwood. What can be better?
