So my music exam was today. The last question was to write a letter to the Grant board and explain why my school deserves the Baind Aid $10,000 grant for music. I thought that we could use it (since the Catholic Schools get all the budget in my town) and I came up with the most overused, but still valid reason for my school to get the grant.

Drugs.

Yes, you heard me. Drugs. I wrote that since my High School was stuck in the middle of a town with barely any constructive activites, it could lead us all to BAD INFLUENCES, like drugs. I also wrote that if we got the grant, we could use it to buy more popular instruments to get the student body interested in music and to release their inner musician, and a boy who has a drumstick in each hand has no hands left for smoking (I wrote that part, seriously). I also threw something about Annie Lennox in there. I was going to mention David Bowie, but I obviously changed my mind (him and Iggy Pop in the 80's, man). Dude, I think I just scored the school a couple more basses and guitars. biggrin

And Also I have

A SAD TRUTH ABOUT SOCIETY THAT WILL PROBABLY HAVE YOU ALL SAYING, "NO, DUH!"

When my cousin had her arm hurt and her friend had her arm broken by a boy a while back, the boy didn't get suspended, and my cousin didn't fight back like she normally would because she was afraid of getting suspended. Well, boys and girls, here's the undeniable truth:

Teachers cannot do anything anymore.

It's true. Since both parents have begun working full time jobs, it makes the parents feel guilty (mostly the mother) and they never tell the kid, "No." If they want an X Box 360, it's their's, if they want their own cellphone, they got it. And they don't let the kid learn about consequences of their actions, because everytime "Mommy's Special Little Man" gets in trouble, HOW can it possibly be THEIR SWEET LITTLE CHILD'S fault? This is where school comes in.

When these kids go to school, they do whatever they want to do, knowing that Mommy and Daddy will be on their side. When the kid gets in trouble for whatever reason, the parents come down to the school and give the principal hell, believing the kid when he/she says, "Well, I didn't do anything!" I mean, last generation, kids were scared to death when the principal was going to call their parents, but now, since the parents are so unplugged from their childrens' lives, it's like, "Go ahead. I dare you." So now schools are left to raise children that they shouldn't even have to raise. It's pitiful.

It's child abuse, I swear. When those kids grow up and have to make their own way, they're going to be so freaked when they realize that Mommy and Daddy won't be there when they get fired, or kicked out of Univeristy, or their house is taken away.

So look at yourself society. Look at what you've become. Government shouldn't be raising kids, even if both parents work. They should still have dinner together and talk about what's going on in their lives. Parents should listen to the teachers when they say, "Billy is bullying the other children." Parents should be disiplining their children (they won't love you any less).

So look at yourself society. Go ahead. I dare you.
