Chapter 15

The crew of the Sparrow gathered round a bonfire; at least, most of the crew did. The bonfire was the funeral pyre of Genevive Fiyeronte. It seems that this crew was only allowed one miracle per day, and finding out that their captain has nine lives was it. Unlike Jaqueline, Genevive wasn't coming back. As Genevive's body burned away the only dry eyes were those of the two males, and they just as sad as Neji, Tayu, Sakura, Scarlette and Jaqueline. As the last cinders died to ashes, Jaqueline and Vash both felt something like a pair of hands shoving them towards each other. None of the others heard the slight thump of the collision.
Jaqueline gazed up into Vash's navy blue eyes and he gazed back down into her hazel eyes. Jaqueline blushed.
"Oops. Sorry 'bout that, Va--" She didn't get a chance to finish the sentence before Vash's lips covered heres, effectively silencing her. The two vampyr-pirates stood in each other's embrace for what, for them, was an eternity.

Here's the secret:
What Jaqueline and Vash felt pushing them together really was a pair of hands. Genevive's spirit had decided to stick around for a bit. She felt she still had some unfinished business on the earthly plane. She pushed the two together, and if any of the crew had chosen to look at them right at that moment they would have seen Genevive's smiling spirit hovering close by and a warm, golden glow surrounding the captain and bosun.

YAY! Vash and Jaqueline ended up together! Genevive is at rest. The crew of the Sparrow has lost a member and gained another, and everything is resolved. That is, until the sequel. Don't know when I'm going to write it, but I have the idea in my head. Please keep reading though. I will be posting a Character Profile section that will feature the profiles of, not only the characters mentioned here, but the entire crew! Comments Please!
