I went to the bookstore today because I'm a hopeless weeaboo who spends most of her money on manga, and they were having a sale! Buy 2 books, get one free! Hoping to take advantage of this amazing offer, I chose my 3 books. Then, wait what? IT HAS TO BE TOKYOPOP. Possibly the worst translating company ever. I had to put back my Death Note ( sad )and Fullmetal Alchemist (which I still got because my dad bought for me, lol@spoiled children) and find some good-looking title that was done by Tokyopop. I ended up getting Rozen Maiden #1 and #2, and Keroro Gunso #1. NOW IMMA REVIEW THEM.
I've already seen the first season of Rozen Maiden, so I kind of knew what to expect here. I just got it for the lulz. All I have to say is, WTF TOKYOPOP?! D: They spelled Suigintou like five different ways, and they couldn't decide how to spell Souseiseki either. Is it just one person translating, or ten? Doesn't someone read over it before they start printing? Also, they misspelled "better" as "beter". This isn't Tokyopop's fault, but the lineart made my eyes hurt after a while because it's so girly and shiny. The comedic bits are funny though.
Oh yeah. THEY CHANGED DESU TO YES. SUISEISEKI ENDS HER SENTENCES WITH "YES?". RRRRRRROOOOOAAARRRRGGGHHHH.
Ok, onto a less painful subject. Keroro Gunso is hilarious. There's like 10 volumes, or more. NIEC ONE TOKYOPOP YOU DIDN'T FAIL IT THIS TIME.
Also, they stuck little ads in the middle. gonk They're really bad about that. If I wanted to read some Russian half-wit's pathetic weeaboo attempt at manga I probably wouldn't be reading Rozen Maiden, because weeaboos don't really like that kind of thing. I would know, I'm the expert on them.
I'm not dissatisfied, I'm just disappointed. A little. I'll probably finish both series.
