Welcome everybody to my first journal entry. I hope for it to be updated frequently and hope to catch your interest with cool and/or new things.

First off, most of us use several computers a day or week. For those of us on the go, a jump drive aka flash stick is a must. And for those who want to use some useful programs that aren't installed on those computers, a company on the internet has come up with an answer; PortableApps.

Yes, yes. I know this has been out for quite some time but that doesn't make it any less useful. It fits on most size flash drives, though I recommend at least a 256MB. What it does is it creates a sub-program on your drive that has it's own Start Menu like theme. In the menu, is a list of various programs of your choice that you have on your jump drive. For instance, I have Portable Firefox. I have other programs and such that I use frequently. Here is a list of useful programs and what they do:

OpenOffice: Free Office suite that opens most Microsoft Office files and let's you edit. Complete with a presentation creator, text editor, and more.

Firefox Portable: A portable version of the best web browser out there. Yes IE fans, it is better.

GIMP Portable: The GIMP Image Editor for those on the go. Complete with all the features of the standard GIMP, this is a must for artists.

StrokeIt: A program that when gestures are drawn (using the right mouse button), perform many shortcuts. For example: 'W' brings up the main Internet browser on the computer, be it Firefox, IE, or Opera.

GAIM Portable: A nifty little IM program that lets you chat with all your friends from Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and more.

VLC Media Player Portable: Media Player that comes with most codecs already installed. Useful when you HAVE to watch a video.

There are extra fun stuff that you can get also that aren't made for it but can be used without installation. Such as UnFREEz (a program that animates GIFs), Stress Relievers, and some more. I highly recommend this program for it is very useful for those on the go and makes you look really professional.
