After arriving back from the mission Vivian hadn't spoken to a single soul. She locked herself in her room staring at the wound on her arm that she received from one of the rats that attacked her. Vivian couldn't understand why she had let her guard down, why did she go out of her way to protect someone?
Sitting in her chair at her desk she stared at herself in the mirror, her H.A.L.O sitting in front of her. For some reason she wanted to talk to Sam, but then again she didn't she wanted to be alone, or so she thought.
Getting up from her desk Vivian grabbed her H.A.L.O and headed out of her room, she wanted to go train, not with her guns, she wanted to do more hand to hand combat, she needed to get her frustration out.
Arriving in the training room she phased through the door removed her jacket, revealing a small back sports bra, than removing her skirt, a small pair of biker booty shorts, than she removed her boots, it was more comfortable to practice without her heavy clothing on, she could move easily.
It wasn't to long before Vivian was worn out from training, sitting on the mats sweat dripped from her body, she couldn't stop her mind from thinking, thinking about things she shouldn't have been. Sam was on her mind, she didn't understand why, Was it cause she showed a act of kindness to him, or because he returned that kindness and saved her. What had caused her to rush to his side to protect him?
Sighing heavily she looked at her H.A.L.O. She wondered what he was doing and if he was alright, she knew his was injured pretty badly.
Picking up her H.A.L.O she stared at it for a moment. "Sam, It's Vivian. how are you?" She spoke. Wait that was stupid, why had she allowed herself to do that? She should have just let it go, he was fine, he was strong enough to take care of himself. Why would she care what happened to him?
She waited to hear a reply, At first she had wondered if he had even heard her. She laid down onto the mats and waited some more, she gave him more time before she would call to him again, than finally."This is Sam, I am okay. How are you?" Sam had finally responded, her chest had felt like it tightened when she heard his voice, she wasn't sure why, but she was glad to hear that he was alright.
"I'm alright, I have been better. I dunno why, but I just felt like I had to make sure you were alright Which I am glad that you are." She spoke to him than rolled over onto her back starting up at the ceiling. Why did she have to check and make sure she was alright? She didn't understand it at all, she had never cared about anyone's well being before so why start now?
Listening to him speak she smiled to herself. What was it about his voice that made her feel like this? I appreciate your kindness and your worry but I am doing alright, it is you I am worried about. You were hurt badly and I hope you disinfected that wound and covered it up. You do not want to feel ill." Why was he concerned about her? She knew damn well that he was more injured than him, hers was only one bite, but his was much worse. Thinking back to the mission yet again she couldn't get the image of him covered in blood out of her mind, why didn't she stick to his side, she could have prevented them from having any injuries. "If you require anything I have plenty of bandages and disinfectants here. I do not mind healing your wound for you." He had spoken again, this time she wasn't sure on what to say, should she tell him the truth that she had just showered, washed it with a little soap, and wrapped it, she didn't see the point at first worrying to much about it.
"To be honest I didn't do much for it, I was frustrated in myself and came down to the training room to blow off some steam." She rolled over onto her side and stared at the wall. Than she brought her knees up like she was going to curl up in a ball, she stared at her barcode on her leg for the longest time as she waited for Sam to reply back to her.
"Make your way over here, I will properly treat that wound, I would not appreciate it if you would allow yourself to lower your own strength." Vivian's chest started to pound, did he really just invite her to his room? Of course it was only to take care of her injury. Should she take him up on his offer or be rude and decline.
She laid their debating on what she should do. She sighed softly, she didn't want him to think she was rude, she would take him up on his offer, but why did she care what he thought of her? She never cared before. "I'll be over in a few." She had gotten up and put back on her normal clothes over her work out clothes, then slipped on her boots.
She hoped that she didn't smell after training, again why was she caring about this? Walking out of the training room and heading towards Sam's room, keeping the H.A.L.O in her hand, waiting for Sam to reply.
It didn't take Vivian that long to get to his room, she stood there for a long moment, actually nervous about going in and seeing him. why? Why was she feeling like this? She didn't understand any of these feelings, she wanted to just turn around and go back to her room, but before she could even do that her hand had already knocked on his door.
"s**t." she mumbled to herself after she had just realized that she knocked on his door. What the hell was wrong with her, she was making this more complicated than it needed to be, she was just coming to see him so that he could heal her wound, nothing more.
The door had opened before she could even think about what to do she was face to face with Sam. She stared at him, he was in worse shape than her, so why was he so worried about him. He invited her in, she was bit hesitant on walking in, but she did it anyway. Looking around the room it reminded her a lot of her home back in Los Angeles, which ceased to exist now.
His room did lack photos, but perhaps she could help in that department. No one really knew what she liked to do in her spare time, when she wasn't training she was taking photographs of objects around her room and around the lab, she also had many of photographs from before the lab.
"I do hope you don't mind the lack of pictures, I am still working on that. Though before you reject my style please make your way to my desk, I have all the disinfectants out so as to heal that wound properly. When he spoke to her, she tucked her hair behind her ear and walked over towards his desk. "believe it or not, but I do a lot of Photography. I never clean out my memory card. I have many of photos from before I came here." Looking at the objects on his desk she turned back and looked at him. "If you'd like to use some for your room, We could go back to my room and print out some for you to hang, we'd have to make some frames though." She said than looked down, why would she offer some of her art work to him, of course she loved to show off her personal views on the world around her, but actually offering to give them away?
Really? When he said really, she had just nodded her head at him. She was no longer nervous about being in the room with him, they had something interesting to talk about which was art, something she loved it was her passion before her accident and turned cold hearted towards most people.
It was odd how things had turned out today, It started out with her wanting to do the mission on her own, to her working in a team. She knew she would have never survived if she had went off on her own.
That is awfully kind of you and I appreciate such a thing but you do not need to if you don't want to. Though we do not need to worry about frames because I have some old ones from former pictures I had.
She wanted to give her art, it was only copies, so it wasn't that big of a deal, she didn't mind at all. At least someone would get to enjoy her art and it wouldn't just be sitting around on a memory card or on her computer for no one to see. They are no longer something I wish to see or even remember they existed. That past of mine is gone and I do not wish to remenence on it. It seemed that he didn't want to remember his past, she wished that she had that option, she couldn't remember to much of her past, she remembered just a few small things, like where she lived, and that she loved to do photography. These were just things that she pieced together with clues that she had left herself, which was the camera and things left on the card.
Watching him prepare everything she looked down at her arm, the wound didn't look to good, it was red, probably infected from not taking care of it properly. She wondered how bad it really was.anyways, lets clean that up. Bring it here.
Vivian showed him the wound wondering what he would think about it. He would probably be a little upset at her for not taking care of it like she should have, but then again, why should he care, he hardly knew this girl at all. "Guess it's infected huh?" He nodded at her question. She waited for him to clean it up, she knew it was going to hurt a little, but she would be fine.
"So, would you like to see some of my work, it's ok if your not really into photography, you can just tell me. I wont get upset." she finally spoke about what they were talking about before he changed the subject to her arm.
Vivian was glad to hear that he would love to see her photography, she actually had to sit there and try to remember how many memory cards she had with her. "I think I have 5 memory cards, 8gbs each...so that's 7,500 each card. So times that by 8 and you have...37,500 photos all together." She did the math in head quickly and effectively. He laughed and then spoke up, "You must be dedicated, I have not spent enough time on photography myself or I might have reached half of your total." Dedicated, that's what she was.. or so she thought, that sounded right, she hadn't done much photography since she came back to the lab, but she wondered if she was that dedicated before she came to the lab, the amount of memory cards was some sort of evidence.
We might need to meet up several times to keep this healty, where would you like to meet up? Here or elsewhere? Listening to him speak about having to meet up again a few times she smiled, she liked that idea of seeing him again, but she didn't know why. "Here is fine, that is if you do not mind. I mean we can meet anywhere, I just feel bad for taking up your time. I'm sure you have more important things to do rather than take care of my stupid a**." she knew it was her fault she got injured, why didn't she phase, she had a moment to do so, but her mind was clouded, but why? "Rather stupid of myself to let my guard down and be injured. It wasn't like me to do so. I still don't understand what I was thinking." She flinched some when he was cleaning her wound, it stung, but she would survive. "Relax, nobody is perfect, even when they think they are. I am not surprised nor expectant, in the battle field humans have the tendency of loosing they're focus on their surroundings and they tend to do errors. Hell, I have not been at war and I have done things by accident when I am not paying attention." He was gentle in covering up her arm properyl. "By the way, are you thirsty, hungry, or do you need anything? I have cola though do not tell the professor, he has no idea I snuck it out of the cafeteria a while back." "By the way, are you thirsty, hungry, or do you need anything? I have cola though do not tell the professor, he has no idea I snuck it out of the cafeteria a while back." she smiled and simply shook her head no, Maybe later they could head down to the cafeteria and get something to eat, and maybe talk more. She would ask him once he finished up.
She could feel him moving his finger over her skin, it did calm her nerves some, but it also made her chest pound again, what was this feeling, she didn't quiet understand it.
Watching as he wrapped her arm she smiled up at him again and tucked her hair behind her ear again. He had told her to relax cause no one was perfect, but it was still bothering her on why she had allowed herself to be harmed in the middle of battle.
Using her free hand she ran her fingers through her hair and looked at Sam."I don't understand something, your more beat up than I am, but yet you seem more worried about me than yourself?" Vivian was a very selfish girl, she never understood the point of helping someone out, and she didn't understand the point of helping Sam out back on the mission. He stopped for a second and then began to speak, "I worry about everyone other than myself and even more those that I care about. It is in my nature to step in front of harm in order to take the hit for others. This is nothing compared to the damage I have taken before." He stopped as he put the bandages away into the box and then continued. "I once was a friend of a guy who was one of those street kids. He was smart and very tough but not very thoughtful about his words. I was asked if I could join him and his friends out in his neighborhood and I said yes." He closed the caps to the disinfectants before continuing, "When arriving I found myself with gangsters, not that I have a problem with them, in fact I got along with them. Ten minutes later there and a car that pulled over and shot several gunshot round into some of the members and I myself jumped in front of my friend to defend him. I ended up in the hospital with seven shots.I never saw my friend ever again but the gangsters considered me as their 'main man' after the event. I had body guards until the incident with SHINO."
Listening to his story she was actually moved by it. 7 shoots and he was still alive she had never risked her life for anyone, well except for earlier. He had finished up with her arm, it stung a little, but again, she would live.
Vivian looked at Sam she wasn't sure on what to say, the only thing she could say she didn't want to say, if she were to say thank you now, would that mean she would have to leave? Of course he had already talked about meeting up again to take care of her wound. "Thank you, Are you hungry? I was thinking we could go grab a bite to eat, maybe talk some more." That was she would leave it up to him if he wanted her to go he would just simply say no, and that would be that.
It was odd, Vivian wasn't much of a talker, but here she was sitting in a room with someone talking like a normal human, but could she even be considered human, after all most of her was machine now.
Looking at her arm once more she wondered how long it would actually take, couldn't that rat have bit into her leg instead of her actual arm, than all she would have to worry about is the professor repairing it. "Now that you mention it, I am. We should get a bite to eat and talk more afterwards. After that we can even train if your up for sparing." Vivian smiled some when he said that, this would for sure give them more time together, maybe it would also help her figure out what she was feeling. Slowly Vivian sat up and ran her fingers through her hair throwing it away from her face.
Waiting for Sam she looked around the room once more. "maybe after I kick your butt we can go back to my room and pick out some art for your room." She teased Sam, but in a playful manner. Wait what!? She was being playful...with a guy non the less? What got into her? "I might like it rather than find it painful." Vivian wasn't sure what was going on, but there was something going on between the two, something she had never expected. was he flirting with her? she wasn't sure. Walking out the room she turned her head slightly and waited for him, she watched wondering what was on his mind. Vivian didn't understand love, she knew she had loved once before, her photographs proved that, but she had no idea what happened, were they together for a long time? What happened to this person she was with.
"No abilities.. hand to hand only." she knew she could win by phasing, and he could probably nab her a few times with his ability, but hand to hand would be much better, this would make their skill and mind much sharper, she had never spared with anyone before so she was rather excited. "I cannot wait for such an event, I just hope your ready for my skills." Vivian looked at him, now she and knew he was flirting with her, she wasn't sure if she should flirt back, of course it felt natural to be around Sam like this. It felt like they had known each other for a while, their personalties clicked so well. "Good with your hands huh? does that go for everything or just fighting" she asked as she crossed her arms over her chest curious to know what he was going to say. If he could be a flirt she could to. Vivian ran her fingers through her hair. "I guess you will just have to find out by yourself." She knew there was something about Sam, something that she actually liked. She smiled when he made his comment about sticking around to find out. Maybe she would, depended on how this went, of course she could always use a friend. "Food first, I didn't eat at all today." She didn't have time to eat, she got up pissed around for a while than headed out for the mission, ok so she could have ate, but she was never hungry when she first got up today she had worked up some hunger, she just hoped that she didn't make herself look like a pig while eating.
Sam allowed her to go first as they both made their way into the cafeteria, maybe things can turn out well between them both.

Separately upon returning from the mission, Sam decided to exclude himself from the others. He was wounded and had faced to much of his fears. He was glad he conquered them but still needed to heal his mind. He looked down at his body that was badly injured so he went to his room on his own. Caleb found this odd that he would not talk but he was just tired Sam told him.
Once in his room he took off his coat and stared at his body. He was still bleeding from his forehead and his back. He chest had a bite wound too and it was bleeding a lot. He did find it odd that he was not dizzy or feeling faint but he ignored this. He took off his clothing and went into the shower, disinfected his wounds, bandaged them and laid on his bed. Analyzing the mission he wondered on the skills everyone possesses and how it displayed in the battle field. He was impressed by his new ability and he was glad he was able to learn it in time. He was glad he saved Vivian. Vivian... He tried imagining her now and tried to focus on her skills but instead found himself wondering about her in general. Why am I thinking about her like this? He sat up from bed and tried distracting his mind but it found it nearly impossible. The thought of her continued and he began remembering the feeling he picked up while he was with her and now it was affecting him. He got up from bed and began doing push-ups. Distraction was a means of letting go of stress, maybe that is what is affecting him he thought.
Upon reaching twenty-nine push-ups the H.A.L.O. turned on and his name was heard. From far away he could still hear but faintly Vivian on the other line. "Sam, It's Vivian. how are you?" He looked at it for a second wondering whether he should go to it and answer. His feelings and emotions were spurring up and he got up without even thinking about it. He picked it up and spoke into it, "This is Sam, I am okay. How are you?"
His reaction towards this action came with anxiety and it grew when her voice came back from the H.A.L.O., "I'm alright, I have been better.I dunno why, but I just felt like I had to make sure you were alright. Which I am glad that you are." He could not understand why he was actually feeling anxious, he was very social ad the amount of women he had spoken to, none caused him this reaction. He breathed in and spoke as calmly as he could in return. "I appreciate your kindness and your worry but I am doing alright, it is you I am worried about. You were hurt badly and I hope you disinfected that wound and covered it up. You do not want to feel ill." He knew well he was damaged a lot more but he could take the pain though he was indeed worried as to how she did not make herself transparent in order to dodge the attack. Was she worried about me that she distracted herself? He spoke once more before allowing her to answer back. "If you require anything I have plenty of bandages and disinfectants here. I do not mind healing your wound for you." He did not mind it because he actually wanted to spend some time with her, even if it is healing a wound.
He sat on his bed side trying to relax as she spoke, "To be honest I didn't do much for it, I was frustrated in myself and came down to the training room to blow off some steam." He thought this was not a good idea and instantly thought that if it was not properly taken care of, it would infect her and may cause much harm. His thoughts went into the distance from his room to the training room and knew the training room was a few minutes off, which would give him time to get dressed, he never went to sleep with clothing, it was his habit from America. "Make your way over here, I will properly treat that room, I would not appreciate it if you would allow yourself to lower your own strength." He got up and went to the closet picking up some jeans and a T-shirt. He began putting them on waiting for her response.
Sam turned to the knock at the door. He stood there for a second and then walked up to the door. He still felt nervous which made him question why this was so. He placed his hand on the door knob and opened it fully. His eyes met hers, or rather eye because the right one was covered by one of the bandages from the wound on his head but regardless he smiled to show his acceptance. He move back and signaled her to enter by stretching his arm towards his room, much like a butler would when allowing guests into an elegant mansion. His room was no such thing but it had its perks, black furniture and decor but with a beige wall and ceiling that spoke of elegance and class from America. He was not in a rich home but this was as close to his former dreams of living in a palace of a mansion. He allowed her to come in with much acceptance. She looked around the room and did not seem to deny it's looks but he still spoke, "I do hope you don't mind the lack of pictures, I am still working on that. Though before you reject my style please make your way to my desk, I have all the disinfectants out so as to heal that wound properly."
He was facing her and somehow could not take his eyes away from her, not in either a cautious nor sexual way, more like in an interested manor, which he found odd even though he is very open, but it was odd with her because he never really talked to her much. I need to relax, this is just to heal her. He noticed how she pulled her hair back and it quickened his heart beat, Okay, this is going to be tougher than I originally thought. He walked over to her at the desk when she began talking. "believe it or not, but I do a lot of Photography. I never clean out my memory card. I have many of photos from before I came here." "Really," he said as he went into taking out the cotton and damping it with the alcohol. "If you'd like to use some for your room, We could go back to my room and print out some for you to hang, we'd have to make some frames though." Sam could not help but smile with his teeth showing, he was very glad she offered such a thing to him. He had not been able to find anything from the past to brighten up his room so he truly appreciated her offer. "That is awfully kind of you and I appreciate such a thing but you do not need to if you don't want to. Though we do not need to worry about frames because I have some old ones from former pictures I had." He stopped and remembered his past before continuing. "They are no longer something I wish to see or even remember they existed. That past of mine is gone and I do not wish to remenence on it." He then began remembering his former friends, his family, his life and finally his old lover. He closed his eyes to push away the image, he opened each disinfectent and looked up to see Vivian's face which was bright, apart from the light of the decal lamp over at the bedside table. He then looked at her arm and motioned it towards him, "anyways, lets clean that up. Bring it here." He looked at it and found it a bit infected. She spoke up and asked if it was, he simply nodded.
He laughed a bit when he heard the amount of images, "I think I have 5 memory cards, 8gbs each...so that's 7,500 each card. So times that by 8 and you have...37,500 photos all together." "You must be dedicated, I have not spent enough time on photography myself or I might have reached half of your total." He wondered about the need for her arm so he spoke of his treatment for it, We might need to meet up several times to keep this healty, where would you like to meet up? Here or elsewhere? She then responded to his question on where they would meet, "Here is fine, that is if you do not mind. I mean we can meet anywhere, I just feel bad for taking up your time. I'm sure you have more important things to do rather than take care of my stupid a**." "I do not mind at all and to be honest I do not have much of a schedule of important things to do unless you involve sleeping and training. To be honest I use to have a very active life before my arrival here, now it is a stable yet very simple life here in the laboratories. Mostly conversations with anyone of the A.N.G.E.L.'s or the professors and scientists here." While he was cleaning her arm she spoke once more, "Rather stupid of myself to let my guard down and be injured. It wasn't like me to do so. I still don't understand what I was thinking." After his initial tap on her arm with the hydrogen peroxide, she flinched a little, he rubbed his finger over it to calm the nerves. "Relax, nobody is perfect, even when they think they are. I am not surprised nor expectant, in the battle field humans have the tendency of loosing they're focus on their surroundings and they tend to do errors. Hell, I have not been at war and I have done things by accident when I am not paying attention." He made sure to cover the arm slowly and carefully so as to keep the blood pumping properly. "By the way, are you thirsty, hungry, or do you need anything? I have cola though do not tell the professor, he has no idea I snuck it out of the cafeteria a while back." She shook her head no in response with a smile.
Sam was nearly done wrapping her arm when she spoke up, "I don't understand something, your more beat up than I am, but yet you seem more worried about me than yourself?" He tightened the end so as to make sure it does not come off and then he spoke as he looked at her, "I worry about everyone other than myself and even more those that I care about. I was asked if I could join him and his friends out in his neighborhood and I said yes." I ended up in the hospital with seven shots.I never saw my friend ever again but the gangsters considered me as their 'main man' after the event. I had body guards until the incident with SHINO."
"Thank you, Are you hungry? I was thinking we could go grab a bite to eat, maybe talk some more." Sam turned to her and felt like saying yes but he knew this was untrue. He did not want this to end, this conversation between them. The only thing he could think of was yes so he said it, "Now that you mention it, I am. We should get a bite to eat and talk more afterwards. After that we can even train if your up for sparing." Sparing was not something he liked to do with women especially sense he did not want to hit them but it was the only thing he thought quickly enough in order to spend even more time with her. Besides, he can allow her to win and maybe he can get some special treatment in return for even more time they can spend. As he thought this he wondered how come he would even thinking about allowing himself to be defeated but he did not mind if it was her, she was a good fighter and he was not ashamed of it, even if she can really kick his a**. She confirmed his though but it humered him, "maybe after I kick your butt we can go back to my room and pick out some art for your room." He somehow found it interesting rather than painful but he answered her in a way he did not expect, "I might like it rather than find it painful." Wait... did I just flirt?
Either she did not notice or she ignored it, but she continued. "No abilities.. hand to hand only." Sam smiled intensely showing the best smile he has had in such a long while, "I cannot wait for such an event, I just hope your ready for my skills." Why am I flirting? Sam was questioning himself now and hoped this was only temporarily, he enjoyed this girls company but now he was scaring himself for not noticing her sooner. She is attractive he had to admit that but he was not into her until today. Why? He got up from his chair and made his way to the door and opened it but he did not walk out, he proposed she should go first as his hand motioned outward, a smile still on his face as he looked at her.
Sam laughed a bit and spoke up, "perfect, I am good with using my hands." Why am I flirting? He wanted to slap himself because had no idea why he was doing so, though it was kind of fun doing so after a long while of just mere conversations. I guess I will just go with it. He allowed her to step out of his room to head over to the cafeteria. I wonder if the others would think this weird. "Good with your hands huh? does that go for everything or just fighting" He smiled before responding, "I guess you will just have to find out by yourself." She had an amazing quality and should he not end up with her, he still saw her as a member of this project, thus she was his sister, not in blood but at heart. "Food first, I didn't eat at all today."
Sam allowed her to go first as they both made their way into the cafeteria, maybe things can turn out well between them both.
Separately upon returning from the mission, Sam decided to exclude himself from the others. He was wounded and had faced to much of his fears.
