Well, it's a new year. No word yet on just how far this Zurg thing is going to go. But we will be ready, the V.I.A and I.
Back in the old year, I had the rare fortune to have enough gold to buy a guild. The V.I.A goes there now, and its meetings are secret for now. Other than that, not much new to report. The Zurg Santa was apparently the most popular, which is a bit amusing. But then, he was something new, and people always like new things. Well, sometimes.
Anyway, that is all for now. Until next time, dear reader.

It was several days ago, and I was doing what I normally do, readying myself a possible war. I had already set up the V.I.A, and was getting things set up for that. Suddenly, I smelled smoke. I knew it wasn't from the campfires of Resistance. No one else knew about that little spot on the map at the time, but I knew it was only a matter of time before it became common knowledge. Well, to my shock and horror, I saw a small little ship, damaged. It was a wreck, and at first, I didn't realize anyone was in it. But a feeling of urgency I couldn't shake crept over me, and so I dropped down from the cliffs and made my way to the coast.
Upon gaining the shore line, I realized that I could sense a life in the craft, holding on to life. I felt as though the pilot of the craft would die if I didn't do something, and so I began my rescue.
At first, I thought it was one of the Gaians who had drank of the Zurg's energy drink. They all look the same, after all, and having never seen number 9, also known as Flarn, before in my life, I had no idea that that was who he was. I discovered it after I'd worked for several hours to save the little guy's life, because I couldn't just sit back and watch him die. I have a soft spot for adorable little creatures that look like children, you see. But more on that later.
I felt compelled to shield us both, and looking up realized why. The mothership was coming to investigate. That should have clued me in on who it was, but I wasn't thinking clearly. At any rate, I shielded us with my powers for invisibility. My demon side comes in handy sometimes, and this was one of them.
But something went sideways, because all of the sudden, under my red-glowing palms, another alien popped up. I was surprised at first, until I realized that the alien's copy was exactly identical to the injured one. But, for some odd reason, the copy was much less injured than the original. I wasn't going to dwell on it, though, because I had just had something happen that I wasn't supposed to be able to do, and the mothership was closing in fast. I could hear a whirring, as if she were starting up a scan, or some such thing as that.
To my relief, my abilities to teleport and hold someone immobilized weren't affected by whatever had caused my strange ability. I figured it was probably the fact that the ship on the ground was completely bashed up. Perhaps some crucial bit of technology was able to interact with my powers. Of course, I wasn't comforted by this. It meant that the Zurgian technology was quite different, and cause for a little bit of worry.
At any rate, I took him to my home, and worked on his various injuries well into the night and into the next day. It was amazing how the body of Zurg looks. It is quite amphibious, and lacks a traditional bone structure. Of course, the poor little guy had "bones" broken in various places. Leg, arm, ribs, you name it. I was able to bind them back into a semblance of order, but I had a feeling that he would be feeling it for quite some time. In addition to that, the poor guy had plenty of internal bleeding. By the time I was finished stitching him up, my small white bed was a putrid shade of yellow-green. You're probably wondering why I didn't just use my lauded powers to heal him. The truth? I have no healing powers. I am a demon, after all. I have no reason to need that sort of thing.
Finally, I was done, and exhausted, I took my seat in my chair, since the bed was occupied. This didn't particularly bother me, as I am quite used to sleeping in odd places. The sewer comes to mind as one of them, but that is a tale for another day. Perhaps tomorrow. (As they say, "tomorrow never comes", so I found a way to get out of telling you that tale. ^_^)
Finally, after a restless dream in which my questions about the Zurg haunted me; apparently I wasn't going to get any respite in sleep, either; I woke. I wondered if there was anything going on on the news about the crash, and if I could find out who to turn him over to. I certainly couldn't have him staying with me for too long. After all, I'm quite the loner type of creature.
To my surprise, Cindy Donovinh herself was reporting on the crash. Apparently, they'd found footage of my rescue, and I found it vaguely amusing that they hadn't seen me, but they had managed to capture my red glow in the picture. It was there, a slightly different shade than the fires that had been licking about the craft. At the end, they showed the mothership coming upon it, while it wasn't an actual picture of the mothership, it was the shadow. Apparently they had found the crash site. I was amazed to find that the alien I had rescued was none other than the alien Flarn himself, the missing number 9 that the aliens had apparently come to Gaia to find. This, I thought, will be a good thing. A very good thing indeed....

My real-world-host body finally got around to making a banner for the organization. Now all that git of a girl needs to do is make the ID cards for us all. But oh well. I've got things to do, and I can't do them if she's focused on that. At any rate, I have an second-hand inside source to the Zurg Nation, thanks to darkqueen's resistance, for which I am thankful.

This whole event is crazy. I think some Gaians are taking it too far.
On a different note, I am glad to see that I am starting to get allies for the V.I.A. There may come a time when we need them. And while I won't particularly like that fact, it will be a good thing. We all can influence the future. It's what we choose to do with that influence that shows what kind of people we are.
