Down Time on the Great Fox 2
Fox walked into the lounge on the Great Fox and sighed loudly as he dropped a small plastic bag on the floor while sitting down on a couch next to Falco. Falco gave a bit of a smirk as he glanced over at the tired vulpine.
“So, how did shopping day go?” Falco smirked
“Let’s say in a single store there are twenty different shirts, fifteen styles of pants, and five jackets,” Fox began to explain, “So in that store alone there are a possible fifteen hundred different combinations of outfits… and of course, Krystal had to try on every one.”
“Ouch, that’s bad.” Falco winched
“No, what’s bad is that we went to five stores.” Fox leaned back hard against the couch and whimpered
“Jeez, sorry to hear that bud,” Falco patted him on the back, “But what did you go off and buy?” Falco pointed over at the bag by Fox’s feet
“Well, Krystal decided I was a good sport about the whole thing so I managed to convince to let me go buy that new game.” Fox grinned as he pulled out a game labeled ‘Four Furs Adventure’
“Sweet!” Falco grinned, “You have the best girlfriend. Let’s fire it up.”
“We need two more people though.” Fox said as he glanced around the lounge
They both saw Bill in the kitchen and grinned widely.
“Hey Bill!” Fox shouted
“Yeah McCloud?” Bill asked, poking his head out
“Wanna play ‘Four Furs Adventure’ with me and Falco?” Fox asked
“Sure thing!” Bill grinned as he tossed off his chef’s hat and sat down on the couch
“Now we need one more…” Falco thought aloud
“Can I play?” Slippy asked, having been sitting at the end of the couch the entire time
“Think Peppy would play?” Bill asked
“Can I play?” Slippy asked again
“Nah, he doesn’t like video games.” Fox sighed
“Can I play?” Slippy asked a bit more urgently
“Umm… maybe one of the girls?” Bill suggested
“Maybe Slippy can play?” Slippy said hopefully
“Ha, please all they do is complain when we start beating them.” Falco laughed
“Slippy wouldn’t complain.” Slippy pleaded
“And then when we make fun of them… well… um I don’t exactly feel like sleeping down here tonight.” Fox laughed as well
“HEY, HOW ABOUT I PLAY?” Slippy shouted
Bill, Fox, and Falco all sighed and looked over to Slippy who was grinning like an idiot.
“Hey Slippy… do you want to pla…?” The trio began to ask very slowly
“YES!” Slippy grinned
They all rolled their eyes at Slippy before Fox got up and handed out the controllers. He then popped in the game and turned on the system before sitting back on the couch with everyone else.
After a little introduction movie and a few menus the game began. Fox grinned as he looked over himself. He wore a green tunic with a green hat and was sporting a nifty little shield and sword combo. (Note: no they’re not actually in the game, but I’m just going to write the rest of it like they were).
“Hey, I don’t look that bad in green.” Fox grinned
“What do you think McCloud?” Bill smiled, wearing a blue outfit
“Not too bad Bill.” Fox nodded
“Man, the difference between me and you guys is,” Falco said as he spun his sword around and adjusted his red tunic, “I make this look good.”
“I like this color!” Slippy grinned has he looked at his fuchsia tunic
“Uhh… Slip, I wouldn’t brag about that color.” Bill tried to hold back a laugh
“Why not?” Slippy asked
“Because you’re wearing purple.” Falco laughed loudly
“No, it’s fuchsia.” Slippy defensively argued
“That’s just French for purple.” Falco continued to laugh
“No it’s not! Fuchsia and purple are two totally different things.” Slippy began to cry
“Whatever Tinkie Winkie.” Falco laughed and Slippy cried even more
“Fox! Make him stop!” Slippy complained
“Knock it off Falco,” Fox rolled his eyes before pointing his sword towards a nearby castle, “I bet we have to get over there.”
“What makes you say that?” Bill asked
“Because we’re in a game and there’s a castle. So it only makes sense that we have to go there.” Fox explained as he led the four of them off toward the castle in a single file line
Falco quickly got bored of walking and pushed Slippy.
“Hey, what’s the big idea?” Slippy demanded while Falco pushed him again, “Leave me alone!”
Falco laughed and continued to push Slippy while Slippy kept complaining about it. Bill gritted his teeth and did his best not to kill them both while Fox merely sighed. Finally Slippy called out, “Fox! Falco keeps touching me!”
“I’m not touching you! I’m not touching you!” Falco laughed as he held his hands inches away from Slippy’s face, making the toad start crying again
“I swear if both of you don’t cut it out right now I’m turning this little fellowship around and we are going back to the forest, got it?” Fox shouted
“Way to go Slip-up.” Falco grumbled, pushing him again
“Fox!” Slippy cried out
“That’s is!” Fox shouted but before he could do or say anything else the party was ambushed by a group of goblins
“About time something happened.” Bill smirked as he attacked the nearest one and after several hits the goblin exploded in a cloud of smoke. Bill glanced down and saw a glowing blue gem on the ground. He reached over and touched it and suddenly it felt like he hit some sort of adrenaline rush. He grinned and eagerly attacked more and more goblins, snatching up all the glowing gems he could. Soon enough, all the goblins were dead.
“Hey Bill, take it easy with those Force Gems,” Fox chuckled as he patted Bill on the back, “After all, we need some too.”
“Yeah… sorry Fox. I don’t know what came over me… they just felt so good.” Bill sighed
“Here’s one more!” Slippy grinned as he began to reach for it
Bill growled, dropping his sword and shield and quickly hobbled over Slippy, smacking his hand away from the gem and snarled at him.
“Stupid fat toads tries to steals it away from us… yes precious….” Bill growled before picking up the gem and rubbing it slightly as he absorbed its power
“Precious? Man we are so going to get sued…” Fox sighed as he shook his head, “Come on guys, let’s get going.”
Bill hobbled back towards his stuff and picked it up. Slippy nervously walked behind Bill while Falco yawned some. The sun in the game began to set and the moon rose up high as they kept walking towards the castle.
“Man this sucks, how much further McCloud?” Falco asked
“Just a bit further…” Fox reassured him
Falco looked off into the woods and smiled when he saw a treasure chest.
“Sweet! Finder’s keeper’s!” Falco shouted as he ran over to the chest and opened. Falco quickly frown when he saw a little golden wand inside. He picked it and grumbled, “Stupid wand…”
He carelessly aimed it over towards a tree and the wand fired off a huge fireball that quickly turned the tree into a pile of smoldering ashes. Falco looked at the wand, then the tree, then the wand again and grinned widely before running back into line.
Fox smirked when they reached the castle. However, it was well guarded with knights and search lights everywhere. Fox glanced over at everyone else.
“Ok, now we can’t just go walking into the front gate, any ideas?” Fox asked
“I can burn all of those bastards… heh heh… Fire!” Falco grinned as he patted his wand
“Um… I don’t think that’s an option. (Slippy raised his had) Yes Slippy?” Fox asked
“We… we could make them gift baskets. That way we don’t have to sneak in and hurt anyone.” Slippy smiled
“Man you are SO G…” Falco began but Fox elbowed him in the gut roughly
“Shut up Falco… Bill, you got any ideas?”
“Well we could try to…” Bill began but stopped as he sniffed the air quickly
“What is it?” Falco asked
“Force gems! I smells the precious…. Yes we’s smells the preciouses…” Bill dropped his stuff again and rubbed his paws together
“Where?” Slippy asked eagerly
“In inside the castles…” Bill grinned
“Well that’s nice, but it brings me back to my original point; how do we get in?” Fox grumbled
“Come hobbitsus, come! Bill shows you the way!” Bill grinned as he hobbled off towards the castle, “Bill knows the secret ways in… knightsus don’t knows about it… nor do orcsus…”
Falco and Slippy eagerly followed after Bill while Fox shook his head. Bill waddled up to the castle and pressed against the stone, opening up a secret passage way. Bill grinned and turned around to face them.
“Climb, climb and climb… we’s have a long way to go.” Bill smiled as he clambered up the steps
Fox was bringing up the rear when they finally reached the top. Fox grinned as he looked around the circular room filled with force gems and the door to the boss.
“Bill, you’re a genius! Now we can take out the boss!” Fox patted him on the back before leaning over to grab a force gem
“NOOOO!” Bill shouted and dove at Fox, biting his hand
“Son of a b***h!” Fox shouted in pain as he pushed Bill off of him, causing him to tumble down all of the steps. Falco looked down the stairs and shuddered.
“Way to go Fox, you just killed Bill’s character.” Falco sarcastically congratulated him
“Well, we still have three of us.” Slippy grinned
“Make that two.” Falco smirked as he ignited Slippy on fire
Slippy ran around, shouting in pain before slamming into Falco and sending the both of them tumbling down the steps leaving only Fox.
“Bunch of worthless…” Fox grumbled as he looked around the room and saw that Bill had gotten all the force gems, “Fine, I’ll beat the boss without them.”
Fox kicked down the door to the boss and stormed in.
“So how long was it until you died?” Krystal asked curiously from the other side of the kitchen table from Fox. The entire team was eating dinner.
“Three seconds.” Fox grumbled
“Aww, poor baby,” Krystal cooed, “But I thought Bill, Falco, and Slippy were helping you.”
“Bill got addicted to force gems and bit my hand, Slippy was insulted and torched by Falco, and Falco became a pyro and eventually fell to his doom.” Fox sighed
“It was Falco’s fault.” Slippy complained
“Shut up toady.” Falco said, sticking his hand inches away from Slippy’s face
“FOX! He’s doing that thing again?” Slippy cried
“What thing? I’m not even touching you.” Falco smirked
“MAKE HIM STOP!” Slippy cried harder
“Stupid fat toads, that’s what he gets for stealing the precious from us.” Bill snickered
“And you wonder why I don’t want to have kits any time soon Krystal.” Fox sighed loudly
