Today is the Tommorow We Dreamed About Yesterday
so, today. well, i slept in. usually i manage to haul my butt out of bed around six thirty at the latest, but (a little background info here) we live in the Manitoban country. Manitoba happens to be in Canada, and for all those out there who think that Canadians live in Igloos: YOU'RE WRONG! smile . It may happen to feel like we should be living in igloos sometimes, but i live in a house with heat and everything! the only snow on our walls and roof is the stuff that gets piled up around and on them when we get a blizzard. Manitoba is in the middle of Canada, so we get both the HOT summers, and the COLDCOLDCOLD winters; today being a prime exapmle of the OMG-ITS-FREEKING-FREEZING type day that we get. So, sure, it's nice and toasty warm in here, but this morning it was something like -50 degrees celcius outside of our walls. And since we live in the country (i don't even live in a town, that's how 'hick' we are out here! haha) we get bussed to school. EVERYONE gets on a school bus, unless you live right next to the school, or have your license and an available car. Our school division had long ago decided that when temperatures plunge below -45 celcius with or without windchill, there will be no school, hence, today: no school for us! it feels like christmas holidays again, well, for me atleast, because i didn't have school yesterday either. the school was open, but the people on our bus route didn't have to go because our bus' heater wasn't working. and let me tell you, a bus with no heat, out on the highway and continually opening and closing it's doors to let kids on is NOT FUN! we've experienced it before. rolleyes of course this was when we were like five years old and still bundled up by our mothers in so much snow-attire that we looked like we were extremely fat little kids. now that we've progressed on in our years, we are now teenagers and have decided that snowpants and snowboots that are huge and clunky are not a good thing to have at school. 1) because we can't fit them into our lockers when we get to school, so we can't bring extra shoes and just change when we get to school. and 2) because there is NO WAY that we are going to walk around wearing big huge boots all day. your feet will MELT if you do that sweatdrop and stinky feet in an already not-too-great-smelling atmosphere is not cool.

so back to my sleeping in: i was rudely awakened at ten a.m. when one of my mom's clients came through the door and gave my mom this huge pitiful (not) story about how hard it is for her to do all this work. i decided to give up on my original plan of squashing my head under my pillow(which never seems to work anyways) and trying to go back to sleep, so i listened in. i almost laughed out loud when my mom told her that there was no reason for this lady-with-the-lame-story-about-how-hard-and-time-consuming-this-work-is to be doing this work because it was the ACCOUNTANT'S job to do that work. fyi, my mom's the accountant. and since i was already awake and holding my breath and waiting for my lungs to burst out with my laughter, i got up and started working on homework. not fun. the most eventful part of my day so far has been watching my brother stand on a ladder in the middle of our kitchen and try to not drop one of my mom's kerosene lamps that she collects from ten feet up.... haha, it was entertaining because he's standing there talking to me about his gerbil, and i'm trying to squeeze past the ladder, which happens to be blocking my way to the other part of the kitchen, cus i'm starving. as i squeeze past, the ladder wobbles, and poor daniel, who's just talking away, shuts up and gets the most hillarious face i've ever seen him make. he looked like he was seeing death approach him. which he might have, because if he had dropped that lamp, my mother most certainly would have killed him, or come somewhere close when reprimanding him. but it all turned out fine in the end because i got my food to soothe my angry stomach, and daniel managed to avoid imminent death by clinging to that lamp and staying on the wobbly ladder.

well, it's off to the wonderfuly boring land of homeworkdom which i should have been in while writing this journal. oh well, a little break is always good for the mind, haha, and i do love to take breaks from homework!
