I Am
I am not who I seem to be.
No matter if you know me,
There is another side you haven't seen,
Yet another part of me you may just meet.
I am more than what the eye can see,
Not just this shell that stands before you.
I have thoughts.
I have feelings.
I am that lock
Waiting for its key.
Different from all the others,
Holding the secret no one else can see.
I am not perfect.
No human is.
I've made mistakes and paid for them, too;
Friendships lost and trust broken.
I am the darkness and the light,
Always struggling,
Never yielding,
Two sides of the same coin.
I am many things,
Only a few of which are simple.
Maybe someday you will see,
But for now you should realize that
I am Me.
I am not who I seem to be.
No matter if you know me,
There is another side you haven't seen,
Yet another part of me you may just meet.
I am more than what the eye can see,
Not just this shell that stands before you.
I have thoughts.
I have feelings.
I am that lock
Waiting for its key.
Different from all the others,
Holding the secret no one else can see.
I am not perfect.
No human is.
I've made mistakes and paid for them, too;
Friendships lost and trust broken.
I am the darkness and the light,
Always struggling,
Never yielding,
Two sides of the same coin.
I am many things,
Only a few of which are simple.
Maybe someday you will see,
But for now you should realize that
I am Me.
