Prologue
-Grandfather tells Degnis(child) the story of how wolves gained their powers while at the same time explains to the reader what was going on in this world, explaining how poachers sudden saw wolves as nothing more than the key to thick wallets and started over hunting them to near extinction.
Chapter 1: Proposal
-The story starts out with Lira and Markus discussing an idea for their son's future, the Sanctuary. An animal reserve to keep animals safe from being poached to extinction like the wolves(a lie) even though it was really meant to be a haven where wolves could live peacefully like they used to so many years ago. But the Mayor and his City Council don't like the idea of sacrificing they beautiful landscape to the east. So Lira was forced to use her power to "charm" each individual council member into ratifying the project, which ended with the Mayor calling a town vote that will go on through the next three chapters. On their way home from a successful day, they come across a young teenage boy running away from a group of thugs. Markus, single handedly knocks out the group and they figure out that the boy had lost his parents and offer to bring him home with them.
