Hatik awoke to the sounds of gun shots. She ran out to see what was going on and saw Marroe and the whole pack except for the cubs out there fighting with all their strength. Looking to the victims, she saw the family that put a roof over her. The man and his wife were in the back of his truck, firing and hurting the wolves. Hatik had a decision to make. Stay with the cubs and protect them or the pack. She did what she had to. Hatik dove for the truck with great speed and agility. She was in the back of the car, panting loudly with her head held high and teeth flashing menacingly. She pointed to the seats with her nose. The man looked at her, then his wife. His wife shot a mean look at him for she did not realize that that was the wolf from before. She raised her gun and fired at Hatik's arm. The wolf fell out of the truck, hitting the ground hard. Silence filled the plain. All was still for one split moment. It seemed as if the world stopped spinning.
"What have you done Ann!" the man yelled. "She was different!" He fell to her side sobbing. He really had a heart for wolves after all. Ann saw that he really indeed loved the wolf girl. She threw the gun down and walked to his side. He stroked Hatik's hair ever so gently. She rubbed his back and started to cry herself. The pups came out and saw Hatik. Marrow and Searae ran to her side. They picked Hatik up and out of the man's arms. He looked at him in a way of saying that they were rivals but helping each other. Either way, it was not a good look. The man sat and watched as Marroe, Searae, Grues, Desari, Marcea, and Sadew carry her bleeding body back to their den. Sadew looked at Marroe in a strange way. Marroe was flustered by it. Hatik squinted to see something, anything. When she looked, she saw Sadew and smiled. He smiled back with big eyes and a look of concern.
Hatik stirred in the corner of a strange place. Marroe looked and saw her stir. He got up and walked over to her. Her wound was fresh with bright red blood. He did not want to wake her but had to to change the bandage. She winced as pain shot through her arm. "Hold still. It'll be quick, I promise." His voice was mellow and sweet to Hatik's ear's. She heaved herself up and looked around. They had moved to a new cave. Sadew was sitting on the stone carving something she could not recognize, Marcea and Searae were weaving a blanket in the oposing corner, and Grues and Desari were sleeping next to her. They snored softly and slowly.

Hatik, having just been accepted to the pack, had not recieved food from Marroe. She wandered out of the den to go back to the family. She wandered for miles until she found the house. 'I must have walked farther than I thought last night,' Hatik thought. The door was locked but she knocked anyway. The man opened the door to this beautiful wolf with silver hair and a moon scar on its forehead. "Look Dana, it's a wolf. It must be tame because no wolf would have come straight to this house." A little boy appeared behind them. Instantly a look of fear came upon his face. He screamed and ran away to his room. The mother followed him there. "You can change now, they're gone." The man clearly knew she was. He knew that she was a meta wolf. Hatik changed into a human form and looked around. The man invited her in and showed her a couch to sit on. "Honestly, I just came for food. I'm sorry if I intruded," she said. The man looked disappointed and left to the kitchen to get some caraibou. He tossed it to Hatik and she left with a thankful howl. She ran out into the blizzard and wandered for hours following the scent of her new pack. When she arrived at the den all the wolves were awake and looking at her. She dropped the caraibou and looked back at them. "Where were you!?! You have to consult the alpha before leaving. You could have been caught. What wre you thinking!?! You just decided that since we're all asleep that you can just leave and come back and that it'll all be ok!" Marroe screamed and left to the back of the den. The others looked disappointed at her. Hatik sat down and offered her food to the elders. They all ate and left to their own spots in the den. Hatik was left to sleep with the pups. She felt bad and didn't even want to play with them. They bit her and sat on her until they fell asleep. She had hit an alltime low point in any pack.
