About their home:
•They live in a white sand desert/semi-arid land.
•Historically they would have hailed from two different territories, but the war had forced the two to merge for survival.
•A third allied group had vanished from the region. The preservationists continue their language in part to regain contact in case they return along with the belief that survival of the language is akin to survival of the people.
•Much of their civilization is underground.
•All able-bodied men are expected to become warriors, starting in their teens. Women are prohibited from fighting at the frontlines but can participate in weapons production or peace talks.
•When on the surface, a mask or eyewear is used to prevent photokeratitis. They're often made of bone or clay and skulls are particularly valued.
•Warriors are coated in white clay. Combined with the masks this acts as an intimidation tactic, but also provides camouflage and sun protection.
•Soot is applied under eyes.
•A warrior's partner(s) will often leave a handprint on his chest as a sentimentality.
•Mutual bathing and grooming is customary.
