The Ancient city of Veyron, home of the Enchanters, Palace of Eternal Winter, the City in the Clouds, was on fire, and her citizens scattered around. Like useless rags, slaughtered and torn apart. Consumed by fire and the hatred of those who dared attack the powerful spieces.
The attack had come without warning or any signs. One moment the city was glorious in its prestine, crystaline beauty, the next, ripped apart and burning. Screams tore through the air.
And yet the City still floated. Throughout the carnage the City still moved forward. The whole world floated. Scattered bits of land that moved around the sky. Below the land was water. Endless amounts of water. Falling off the City meant death.
Blood dripped from the sides of the ruined City. Falling the endless distance into the water. Staining it ever so slightly. The City was close to the water today. Where did the attackers come from? Who were they?
The fire licked hungrily at her legs and arms as she ran through the ruins of her home city, leaving small burns with pain that lingered slowly. The useless tears streaked down her face as she ran. Leaving small trails of clean on her soot covered face.
This was something no seven year old should have to endure. Watching the murder of her family and that shattering of everything she knew. She hated herself. Hated herslf so fiercly. She hadn't been able to help them. Any of them. The knowledge burned a hole in her conscience.
'Crying won't bring them back! Nothing will ever bring them back! Not Mama and not Daddy. They're gone and crying won't bring them back!' her mind screamed at her. 'Find Jasper,' she thought in desperation. 'Find him and make him safe. Even if I'm not he should be...'
She needed to find her fraturnal twin.
She needed to know that he was alive.
The sobbing racked her body as she ran toward nothing. She had no idea where she was running too, only that running was better than dying. Anything was better than dying. Dying like everyone else.
'Now, need to keep moving. Find Jasper. Get off the city. Live. Need to live.'
That was the only thing that kept her going, the need to live and assure that her brother was infact alive. Though she didn't know were she was going, or where her brother might be found, she continued to run. Stopping meant death. And death was giving up. She had a very hard time with that option.
Her stamina weakened and she was stumbling all over things. She soon tripped over something hard and cold. Her head took most of the impact of the fall causing her to almost black out. She looked around her desperately as her vision started to blur and black was closing in from all sides. Opening her eyes weakly she screamed. She was staring into the sightless, flat eyes of her mother. She'd been running in circles. Screaming and crying she forced herself up, only to fall back down. Backing up slowly she soon hit a wall. Crying out as it touched her, unsure of what it might be. Assuring herself that the wall had neither a gun nor a sword she folded in on herself. Crying silently, burrying her face in her knees.
Suddenly, with a force that rattled her teeth, she was hit over the head. Collapsing sideways in a growing pool of blood her vision blurred. She didn't know who had hit her, or why. They hit her with murderous attempt. Hit a small girl who was crying over the death of her family.
"I don't want to die," she whispered with her failing voice. "I can't die."
With those last words, Athena Rose Diamus lost conscienceness in a pool of her own blood, still begging not to die.
