*Knock knock* The sound of someone at the door broke Sakura from her thoughts. Who could that be? she wondered. Whoever it was, the knocks on the door were beginning to sound more urgent.
"Geez, impatient much?" she muttered, "It had better not be Naruto trying to pull a prank on me. Alright, Alright, I'm coming. At least try to be patient. What do you--Sasuke?!" There, in the open doorway, was Sasuke Uchiha. He was clad in his old blue and white outfit; no sign of having ever left the village to train with Orochimaru (that snake! Stealing her Sasuke away!). No sign except...his eyes. Sasuke's eyes had changed. Yes, they were still the same onyx black, but now they had a kind of haunted look instead of his normal rock-hard stare. Aside from that there was not a sign. Even the curse mark that Orochimaru had set on his neck three years past had disappeared.
"Sakura." The sound of Sasuke's voice snapped Sakura from her reverie. It sounded hoarse and unused; as if Sasuke hadn't talked the entire three years he'd been gone.
"Sakura..."
"Hm?"
Sakura, I--" He dropped; just fell foprward into Sakura's arms. There was a long, metal needle embedded in his back. As Sakura sagged under Sasuke's limp weight, she saw a flash of dark pink, almost red hair. Tayuya; but that wasn't right. How could--? Why would Tayuya have--? Never mind. Sakura plucked the needle from Sasuke's back; a small pool of blood was already forming, saining the symbol of the Uchiha Clan on his back.
"Saku...ra." Sakura shifted so she could see Sasuke's face.
"Hush, Sasuke," she murmured, "don't talk. I'll get you to the hospital as soon as I can."
"Hurry...please."
