In Odin's field, the blood shed of war thickens. The bodies of humans and demons lie torn and soaked in a river of blood. In the center of the battle, was the ruler of the country at war, King Alphonse. He faces off with the general from the demon's army. Their blades were the first to clash, and there skills were evenly matched. Alphonse stepped back, clenching the wound on his shoulder.
''I'll kill you!" Alphonse yelled, as he lunged at the general. Alphonse swung his blade.
"You've left yourself wide open." said the general, as a dark energy covered his open hand. His hand slammed into Alphonse's chest and pierced his armor. Alphonse dropped his sword. He fell to his knees and gripped his chest . The pain was more intense then anything he had ever felt. He coughed up blood and an idea appeared in his mind. He released his chest and drew a circle in his blood, hoping that his small time training in the art of alchemy would pay off.
the ground flashed with a blue light and the earth under the general's feet shot up in a spiral and locked at his waist."What...alchemy?!" the general said in shock.
"It worked."Alphonse said under his breath, as he made a sign with his hands. "Dragon Breath!"screamed the king, as a burst of fire shot from his mouth. The flame hit the general, and smoke from the fire began to form. As the smoke clears, king Alphonse was shoved toward where the general was, instead,he was pushed into a wall."Where did this come from...?"Alphonse asked, knowing he would get an answer.
"Your not the only one who can use alchemy."said the general, turning Alphonse over and grabbing his neck.
"Go on," said the king, coughing up more blood,"kill me."
''I will not kill you,'' said the general the dark energy once again forming around his hand,''I have orders from my master.'' The general pressed his hand to Alphonse's face.
Alphonse screamed. It felt as if his skin was decomposing from the dark energy.
''What are you doing to me?!'' the king asked, the pain spreading to his chest.
''Completing my master's orders.'' said the general, snickering under his breath. After a few minutes of suffering, Alphonse could feel the pain creeping to the tips of his fingers and the bottom of his feet. He knew this would be his last chance to try escape. He reached for the knife concealed in his cloak, and jabbing it at the general's arm. The general winced in pain as his crimson blood dripped down the knife's blade and hit the ground.
''Was this your last attempt to stop me?'' mocked the general, finding the futile attempt to become free amusing. The pain had spread throughout the king's entire body, and the world began to fade. As he began to feel light-headed, he looked around the field to see the battle progress. From what he could see, it looked as if there were more demons fighting than humans. He came to the conclusion that they were going to lose the war,and the kingdom.
The last ounce of life faded from the king's body and he vanished.
As the general lowered his arm from where Alphonse was,an arrow
pierced his neck, killing him. The arrow was fired by a ranger by the name of James, who had witnessed the general killing Alphonse. As the general died, he let out a horrific scream and the fighting stopped. With the general dead, the demons began to retreat, leaving the king's army where they stood.
There being no body to bury for the king, they began to build a new room inside the castle, in the exact center. For in this room, there is a single headstone, for the king, and behind the headstone, the only thing keeping the castle truly safe,is a small black rose.
