Love Blooms in Smoke A Story of Love in Nazi Germany
War. That is what had broken out in Germany. For a long time now, Adolf Hitler has had control of our lands. The Jew’s have been under constant siege. First, it was small. Only capturing and placing in communities called Ghettos. Now it has gone too far. Hitler’s final solution was taking them to death camps such as Auschwitz! It is an unthinkable wrong!
Yet, in the midst of a great hatred, love can be found. This story may begin as one of great hatred and cruelty, but the tale that unfolds is one of love and kindness. Let us delve into the world of a young man named Faustus Hazela, a good young German man turned into a horrible Nazi…
Faust sat on his periwinkle sofa, his elbows resting upon his knees as Folded his hands in thought. Before him, on his oak sitting table, sat two letters. The first was from General Schweitzer, his commanding officer. The dispatch was a call telling him his leave was over and that he was to return to Auschwitz. He had begun to dread his returns there. His once young, adventurous nature had long since been replaced by a wiser older mind set. He had grown tired of the many killings he was forced to perform and the deaths he had witnessed. It had become old. The second letter was from his fiancée. It read:
My Love Tis been long since you have written to me. I miss you so dearly. Things here have been quiet. Hitler has not yet invaded London so I am Safe. I hope you can come home for the Holidays. My family has been waiting to meet you again. I hope that they will let you on leave from Auschwitz to come be with us. I love you dearly.
Yours Sincerely, Victoria Froshmitt
Faust sighed. He was regretting taking his leave early this year. He would not be able to spend Christmas with his beloved and her dear mother, Eliza Jane. He did so enjoy his prolonged visits to the Froshmitt Estate, but lately something seemed to be missing. He felt empty and unsatisfied. He knew if he told Victoria of his feelings, it would only sadden her or she would ignore him. Therefore, he kept them to himself. Just then, the sound of a car horn came spilling into his cabin. He jumped up, stuffing the letters into his uniform pocket. He picked up his officers hat and placed it on his blond head. He pulled the brim to secure it over his long waving hair. He then grabbed his jacket and a small picture of his fiancée, which he placed in his pocket with the letters. Moments later he was clambering into a large truck. On the outside the swastika was plastered on the side of it.
