I've been Flamed! Well...Not Really, But It Still Sucks :(
Sooooo...I posted my opinion on a thread on the Art Forum, in which I stated that I preferred traditional art to digital. In it, I made a link to my blog, which had a rather vehement paragraph where I said digital artists were not really artists but computer programers. Big mistake. It really made come digital artists jump down my throat. I removed it at the suggestion of one reply, lest I be flamed. You can pretty much see the whole thing if you click "my posts" in my "profile." I stopped posting once I got tired of repeating myself, and once it seemed the quoted replies were becoming more flame oriented. I should probably just say that I prefer taditional art, and that digital art can be as valid as traditional. I don't hate digital art work! scream In fact, I've been thinking of buying Adobe Photoshop for my computer. I wrote that anti-digital paragraph on my blog shortly after finishing the bio paragraph before it. In my bio I explained that I went to UW-Madison and completed both an Associate's of Science and Art Degree, and a Bachelor's of Science and Art. Which is true! I don't have to lie about my life! I'm proud of my accomplishments so far 3nodding ! However, there is one goal I've yet to reach. I've always wanted to be a traditional animator and work for Disney or Don Bluth Studios. Unfortunately, very few traditional animation studios exist anymore. Disney has shut down their American tradtional animation studios (plus the ones in Korea and Australia). One digital artist on the thread complained that I'm just bitter. Well of course I'm a little angry! Wouldn't you be if you felt a new medium like CGI had taken something from you? Now I know how the painters of the early 20th Century felt when photography came along! I feel kinda obselete! I'm mad at myself for not doing more research into the field when I was in High School, and for being too cowardly to move too far from home. I'm going to remove the anti-digital paragraph from my blog and all comments. Hopefull this will give me more peace of mind. Flaming may seem trivial, but it does wear a person down, and it makes me in particular feel like crap. Mature adults don't call each other names in the real world. Childish people, yes, but not educated individuals evil .
