On the day of February 18, 2006, me and a friend of mine, whose name is Rick, experienced a car accident. We were stopped at the stop sign facing UOP on the cross-street of Alpine and Mission, we were in the inner lane. There was a car the left of the cross who was there before us and had the right of way and went. Then there was a car barreling down Alpine towards us, hit the good car, and the bad car veered off and hit us.
To me all I heard was an "Oh, s**t." from my friend and I looked to the left and all I saw was light. Impact. There was a loud crash that sounded like glass breaking and fingernails scratching on a chalkboard from the good/bad crash and a big shove to us. Then these big white things hit me full on the face for I had at least brought my arms to my chest in a reflexive block. When I opened my eyes all I saw was smoke and I was repeating over and over again "oh, s**t. We got hit we got hit." I was coughing trying to get out. I said "We need to get out of here." and I unbuckled my seat belt and tried the car door handle. "********." I said to my self. "I can't get my car door open."
Running through my friend mind was 'I've got to get Beth out of here.' he says to me "The door's locked." and reaches to try to unlock the door.
At those words I slammed my fist when I finally got sight of the darned lock. I opened the door and Ricky pushed me out.
I took a deep breath of smoke less air but caught the bile of crushed metal and engine.
I called out to Ricky to see if he was ok for he had stayed in the car for too long of my liking. He finally got out.
That was an ordeal I never want to expieience again. And let me tell you, an airbag explosion feels like a bellyflop, only about ten times worse.
Plese don't ask if I am ok, I am annoyed by that. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Talk to you all soon. Toodles.^-^
To answer a question that I think will come up, it really hurt to sneeze because of the air bag, I had bruises on my hips from the seat belt, and I had a bruise on my nose from when I had blocked the airbag from my face shoving my hand into my face, and as much as I may dislike them, I will always trust a seatbelt and airbag with my life.
