All In

I find, for some reason, that I don't have a lot of respect for people who say their opinion in the sense that others do. I'm told I should because they're laying it all on the line to voice their personal, private thoughts. They could be discriminated against, flamed, and secluded for their opinions.
On Gaia? Not so much. It's like when the kids at my school play poker. No one is afraid to go all in because nothing is on the line, no money and no clothes. Sure, their egos might get a little bit wounded if they make a really bad play, but for the most part they're prepared to knock in on every hand because it's not going to cost them anything.
I recognize that any time you say your opinion you open yourself up to criticism and that that's a painful possibility for anyone in any circumstance. But you've still got little to lose.
And I Starve said he really didn't care about what the people listening to his show seem to think when he states his rather brash opinions. He's only going to meet "one or two" of them, and the rest are, in less words, chopped liver. Then he proceeded to pour his heart out about numerous subjects.
Props to him, but like he basically said it doesn't really matter. You've got nothing to lose, so you might as well say whatever you want.
I think in a situation like that, it's harder to keep your mouth shut.
Be careful about when you put your opinions on the line. Sometimes it matters, sometimes it doesn't. And running your mouth, opening up to people who obviously don't care and you obviously don't care about in return, just devalues what you have to say.
((This isn't criticizing Eric. I was very taken aback by the personal depth of the opinions he voiced on his show tonight. I made a few unkind comments about a few other things, but I apologized and I think I'm still on the same wavelength of him. This is a criticism of people who are only willing to go all in when they have nothing to lose, his speech tonight was just a good example of one of the ways people choose to voice their opinions))
